Your routine?

And when I say "Share your day, I don't mean every nuance like at what time you make your glass of Ovaltine" I generally mean share your day with an emphasis on your CF care routine, and time management (if you work, what you do with your kids/family, etc). Also, when I say your routine, I also mean all the meds you take, and even what supplement routine you are on.

I think a thread like this would be helpful to share insight into what we all go through and maybe pick up some pointers on certain things. It would be especially helpful for the newer CF people here, and the newly diagnosed to understand what is normal, what to generally expect in the fight, and that they aren't alone. Considering how all of us have our own way of doing things, maybe this could be a sticky for a while, similar to Debbie's thread, that's up to jeanne. Anyways I think it could be helpful.

On top of that, I started a new supplement regimen focusing largely on high doses of DHA, and tumeric, with a smaller emphasis on quercetin, garlic extract, green tea extract, B vitamin complex, Vitamin C, low dose EHA, and of course the constant OO. My goal is simple: To try and see if I can go deeper that just the symptoms that the OO, as in can I actually further in influencing my sputum culture, occurance of hemoptysis, inflammation etc via high dosing on quality substances that have shown promise to do just what I am trying to do with them in preliminary clinicals in general, but more on that later.

Disclose whatever you feel comfortable with.

My "routine" (typical day/week/non weekend):

Wake at 11am or noon (depending if it's a mon/wed/fri gym day and the sleep i got the night before). Do whatever small less time consuming chores need to be done. Take our herd of dogs out. start pot of coffee. Depending on if it's Mon/Wed/Fri i take my zithromax on an empty stomach. After I let the dogs in and change over laundry/finish whatever small chores I started on, I then take my first dose of Pharmanac with water. I grab a vial of albuterol, collistin (I use the generic), my bag of hypertonic, line my clean "Mucous bowl" with a wet paper towel, grab a box of tissues, and head to the bedroom for therapy time. I hit my oreganol P73 up and put 5-6 drops under my tongue and hold it there for 5+ mins before swallowing. I sit down in front of my PC and hook up my vest and start at 10hz for 5 mins while I do my albuterol neb, and when that 5 mins is up I do 25hz huffs/deep breaths out and cough up into the bowl. My albuterol is done then and I switch to my hypertonic with 5 more mins on 15hz, and do my huffs/breaths/cough up when that cycle is done. I will then wait and finish my longer lasting hypertonic and then start my collistin with my final vest setting of 20mhz for 5 mins and finish that when over with the same huffs/breaths/cough ups at 25hz (I do all my vest treatments at max pressure setting), and then chill out and surf the net while I wait on my collistin to finish. My last 25hz usually produces a good amount of gunk due to laying still for 6+ hours while sleeping. I usually get up around 4 or 5 tablespoons of crap. And for something gross, i'll sometimes use the same mucous bowl twice in the same day without cleaning it, because i'm pressed for time etc. But it's all good, I let it soak in bleach and wash it good after my night time treatment. As for the nighttime treatment, it's the same exact regimen, except I add pulmozyme to the mix and I do that last so I don't cough it up.

I then let all the dogs in, finish the laundry/whatever small task I started earlier. I fix myself 2 honey wheat slices of bread smothered very thick in peanut butter (for protein and energy), drink 1 or 2 (depending on if its a gym day) walgreens or walmart's version of Ensure plus for extra nutrients and calories. I then hit up my varying supplements. Currently (as I explained before):

Garlic bulb extract (Allium Sativum): 2 caps = 1200mg
Quercetin and Bromelain: 4 caps = 1000mg quercetin, 750 GDU bromelain
Tumeric extract C3 complex with Bioperine: 2330mg Tumeric, 10mg Bioperine
DHA: Molecularly distilled fish oil 4 caps = 1100mg DHA, 100mg EPA
Green tea extract: 2 caps = 1000mg = 98% polyphenols, 80% catechins, 45% EGCG
Vitamin B complex: 1 cap = Whole crapload of all the necessary B vitamins and their relatives (too many to list)
Vitamin C: 3 tabs = 2490mg
Two additional Reg Fish oil caps to finish off my old stash: 2 caps, which add around an additional 300mg of DHA, and 200mg EPA
A generic Men's Multivitamin/Multimineral: 2 caps (too many to list, but standard mens related stuff)

I then rush through the shower, grab my uniform and all my gear (and wear it heh), grab my coffee, grab whatever food my mother or fiancee were kind enough to give me the previous day for that nights later meal, collect all the crap, and fly out the door. If it's a mon/wed/fri I hit the gym and destroy my chest, arms, and back with heavy weight, continually challenging my muscles for benefit (and it's working great). Head off to work. I usually do a 8 hour shift that's very physically exertive (at the very least, TONS of walking, usually walking 7+ milles, alot of that in the very hot florida sun), but sometimes a 12, or an occasional 16 hour shift. I do my second dose of Pharmanac while at work in the evening. I get home around 12:30am depending on the shift, and do the night time version of my vest but with pulmozyme added and then wash that grody mucous bowl

I then do my night time supplements, after a light meal:

Oreganol P73 (the second dose of the day): 5-6 drops under the tongue and let it absorb.
The same garlic supplement as before: 2 more caps
The same Tumeric supplement as before: 4 more caps
The same DHA supplement as before: 4 more caps

The targeted supplement heavy dose Totals (Garlic, tumeric, and DHA):
Garlic - 2400mg
Tumeric - 4640mg Tumeric, and 20mg Bioperine
DHA - 2500mg DHA, and ~300 EPA

I then crash out around 4am, and mostly don't sleep well. Aside from needing more vitamin K, that's it on the supplements. I know there is a potential risk involved in heavy self dosing the supplements I am doing, but the risk vs possible reward scales tip heavily in the reward collumn, if there is any real reward at all (besides what I know for a fact to benefit me).

My day (aside from when i'm at work) is spent rushing non stop to beat the clock to fit in as much needed stuff as possible, and it's always a battle. As I type this i'm watching the clock on my final neb, seriously needing to haul ass so i'm not late. That's my general day in a nutsheel. The weekend is different in that I generally slack on my supplements besides OO, to give my body a chance to rest chemically, and I usually drink some beer and don't work (but still do my vest treatments).

Very boring i'm sure, but please share your routine. I'm very curious to see what the rest of you guys do, and how you fit it in our typically time starved days.

Wow...my routine is alot easier than yours. Please exuce the lack of spaces...my computer does not recognize them. I get up around 7am and have my chocolate instant breakfast and take 2 enzymes, vitamin C, Adeks, Vitamin K, Bactrim, and NAC--soon to be pharmaNAC. Then I get my shower. Then head to bedroom to do my vest. Currently, I just do albuterol with it. Vest takes 1/2 hour besides the times I pause and huff and cough. Then I am ready to go. My day is spent doing cleaning, researching on the computer, exercising (I do 30 minutes on the treadmill a day at 4.0 mph), and whatever errands that need to be done. Also, walking the dog and being the administrative assistant for my husband's home accounting business. After supper, I wait about an hour and then do my night vest treatement. I also take second dose of bacrim, vit C, and NAC. Oh I forgot.....I also do Advair 1 puff twice a day. That's it for me. Doesn't sound like much, but it is going to get alot busier. My husband and I are about to become foster parents...hopefully a baby.

well here goes mine. i try to stick to this everyday.

*get up around 6:00 am, get ready for work.
*squirt some flonase in my nose while i'm brushing my teeth
*grab my bag with my abulterol puffer, advair, and neb cups.
*then i get my pulmozyme out of the fridge and my saline out of the cabinet and jump in the car.
*during my drive to work i do my abulterol puffer, saline, and pulmozyme.
*after my pulmozyme i try to do my acapella and get stuff up. i never do the huffing, i guess i need to start doing that.
*after acapella i take a dose of advair
*when i get to work i take my zithromax if it's M-W-F, vitamax, calcium, and right now i'm on pre-natal vitamins.

after work i repeat the puffer, saline, pulmozyme, acapella and advair. then i try to go to sleep. my belly is starting to really get in the way so it's been kind of tough getting comfortable.

oh and i try to get in at least three days of cardio, it just depends on if i'm lazy or not

During the week, I wake up at 5:30 am, shower, do my albuterol w/o vest, eat breakfast and shoot up some insulin, then run off to work. So I don't bore you with details, I do spend time testing my blood sugar and making sure my CFRD is "under control" so that I can start my day with no problems in the CFRD department.

I get home from work at 5:30 pm... since I've been testing my blood sugars at work, by the time I get home, I'm ready for dinner! Eat dinner, wait about 1/2 hour, then start my treatment. This entails albuterol with vest, then HTS with vest, flutter and major coughing for about 3 minutes. Then I do my pulmozyme w/o vest... I like to do a little exercising in front of TV while I do my pulmozyme. After pulmozyme comes the Tobi (28 days on, 28 days off). Then more major coughing if necessary.

Throughout the day I'm popping my usual vitamins and enzymes. I take 1-2 Pancrease MT-16's with each meal. Azythromycin I take in the a.m. right after breakfast, very low dose, once a day.

On the weekends, my routine is adjusted to accommodate my lazy weekend lifestyle. I sleep late, eat and take insulin when I wake up, and I do my treatment in the early afternoon. Pill popping is the same too, just a little later on the weekends.

Not too exciting, but it works for me!
