ABPA - allergic reaction to aspergillus (in a nutshell!)

I'm taking a random poll! <br /> My son is in the process of either being diagnosed with ABPA or ruling it out. At our clinic they don't begin to routinely check IgE levels until age 10 as that's when it is more common to culture aspergillus and/or "develop" ABPA. I asked for a RAST test in...

1 year old, bad breath, bacteria?

My son's bad breath turned out to be from esophogeal (sp?) thrush which is fairly common with inhaled steroids. He had been on Flovent for 2 years before we had any issues. It was treated with an oral solution that was pretty high maintenance, if I remember right he had to take it 4 times per...

    does anyone do this?

Luke's enrolled in ISIS, which is a blind study, so we don't know for certain if it's 7 or 3% We're fairly sure it 7%. In any case ISIS requires Pulmozyme once per day PRIOR to the study drug which is done twice per day. We usually save Pulmozyme for pm treatments. We also use separate neb...

How important is it that your child KNOWS they have CF?

Just out of curiosity, does your child know, specifically that they have CF or any other diagnosis? Last week our 5 year old (with CF and asthma) was asked by a friend why he was flying to Seattle. He told her he was going to the hospital. When she asked what for, he indignantly replied that...

    CF & Asthma

Hey, I know this is a bit late but I thought I'd share. My son doesn't have allergies and only has flares when sick thus his asthma was labeled "viral". He was diagnosed with CF at the age of two. As he responded to all of his new meds, got his weight up, and generally became "healthier", his...

    SSI and Medicaid

A care coordinator is usually with a non-government agency who basically orchestrates care for patients with all different levels of care. We first learned of a ours when our son was diagnosed. We knew right away that it would be impossible to even pay for the co-pays on meds so started...
