    Vitamin D deficiency

Thank you for your replies, I did not log in again until now! My Vitamin D level was 16 and then I began taking the prescription supplements. 4 months later my Vitamin D level is 13 (this seems dangerously low), so obviously I am looking into anything that could possibly help (even if there...

    Vitamin D deficiency

I am wondering whether anyone uses a UVB lamp (sun lamps, sometimes also used to treat seasonal affective disorder) to increase Vitamin D levels? If not, what did you do to successfully increase your levels? I already take water soluble forms of Vitamin D and now also have a prescription for...

PFT Goal's thread. Trying to achieve 60% FEV1.

Looking good! Hey you said your bike was stolen. I, personally, am on my third bike in 3 years in Chicago (Oh I lock them properly, yes). sighs* However have you applied for the CF activity grant? You could probably convince them why you need a bike...

    How awesome is your doctor?

Fantastic!! I tested them after reading this thread by emailing a request. Response time for email: 6 minutes. Once I needed a lot of paperwork within a short time frame and they had filled it out and faxed it out within half an hour. Recently they actually got Medicaid to cover Cayston for...

What song do you relate your CF fight to

It's a country music song... arggghh but, Live Like you Were Dying by Tim McGraw is pretty fitting.

    Zenpep

I too am waiting for Ultresa to be available. Zenpep is okay but I prefer Ultrase coupled with Prevacid, that seems like the best combo for me. Others I am sure are different. Creon was the worst for me.

What's your lung function and what can you do with it?

112% but who knows about those percentages... My volume in liters is predicted at 3.43 and in actuality is 3.83. My smallest airways are at 83%, all other numbers are between 100-144% Depends on how in shape I am. Just today I was thinking pilates class was pretty difficult. lol I ran a half...

Coughing judgment at the gym (or any public space)

Just chiming in: Sometimes I feel badly coughing all over on everyone, but they typically dont seem to notice. Only once or twice in the past year has some asked me "Are you alright?" When I had a coughing fit in public. They actually seemed concerned and were nice about it. At the gym no one...

    Extremely Unhappy with CFRD Care

Just thought about it and if your blood sugars are normal except for after you eat, perhaps your carb/insulin ratio is a bit off. Perhaps you just need slightly more insulin with meals?

MAC help, ! drug fevers?? Suggestions ? ?

One or two points: MAC is a slow growing bacteria and it actually takes quite a bit of time for the antibiotics to work on it. I do not think you would feel better instantly, so perhaps that cough was due to another bacteria that the MAC drugs just happened to work on? Typically people on MAC...

    Extremely Unhappy with CFRD Care

Hi, Sorry to hear about your troubles: my diabetes doctor (a new one) recently told me that with CF sometimes it is best to take your insulin after you eat. My blood sugars tend to rise after I eat, like yours... To prevent this I guess it may work better if you eat first and then take insulin...

    Hypoglycemia before CFRD?

Hi, No, before I was diagnosed, I didn't notice any lows but I probably had hyperglycemia most of the time. I tend to run high without insulin and only get low blood sugar when I take to much insulin ( I have been diabetic for 14 years). Sorry if this is not very helpful.

    Bacterial crowding?

Yeah, it is difficult to say. I have been told that treating mycobacterium might just allow pseudomonas to grow rampant etc... Sometimes I feel that antibiotics dont do all that much because it's generates a cycle of kill this, then kill that, then back to this first one again. Like all...
