    Has he had a ct scan to check his sinuses? When ds's cough is sinus related, it tends to be the worst in the am and he tends not to cough while sleeping. On the other hand, if it's a lung infection, he'll cough all day and through the night (while sleeping)

    My children have used pulmicort and advair. The only issue we had was with weight gain. DS had issues gaining weight while on advair but easily gained weight after discontinuing advair and his lung function is still stable. DD had no issues with either drug. DS used advair for 5 years...

    The 5 year old may not need to be sedated. My kids did CTs without sedation at 2 and 3 years old.

    Although I agree with everyone else that it's more likely aspiration pneumonia, coincidence, or something else, I did want to mention that you can develop food allergies at any time. My DD tested negative for peanuts TWICE and actually ate peanut butter many times. She stopped eating them...

    Marjolein - you're referring to primary ciliary dyskinesia, also sometimes known as Kartagener's Disease (assuming there's reversal of organs) or immotile cilia. They use a lot of the same meds as CF patients.
