    All this fighting.

Jarod-- my thoughts exactly! Forgive me for being a major dii-dou-nou, but what IS a dii-dou-nou?

    illeostomy

Weird... my meconium illeus scar is a inch above my bellybutton, and is horizontal, about four inches long. I guess they vary depending on your surgeon and also where in the intestine your blockage is located

    illeostomy

My illeostomy scar is maybe an inch long, and barely noticable since it falls basically on my natural waist. It's almost cute!

Negative - Postive CF on TV

I was also on a show about CF. I was in 3rd grade. My favorite CF book is "Give Me One Wish" by Jacquie Gordon. It seems like not many people on here have read it though. I highly reccomend it

    stool question

I think since they stimulate the child to sweat during a sweat test, it won't matter if he isn't always particularly salty at home. I'm not sure about clinics near Valdosta, but you can check out cff.org; they have a list of all centers in the country. Good luck!

The action shots are of me dancing, I can't be blamed for looking a bit silly. The girls with me are my two cousins; we are at my oldest cousins wedding.

    Photos

There was a great thread of photo websites of CFers (young and old) on the adult pages that was locked due to an unrelated debate. On that thread, I said I would at some point get my non-tech savvy self a photo page. I gave up on that, and asked Emily to put some of my pictures on her site...

    illeostomy

Todd, Greetings from the States! I had an illeostomy at birth due to a blockage, and mine was reversed while I was still in the hospital (so sometime before six weeks). I don't know if this is typical or not; it was almost 16 years ago, and procedure may be different in New Zealand. But that was...

    Photos

A few weeks ago, there was a thread where people posted their photo websites. I am not especially tech-savvy, and put off even attempting a photo page for a while, until tonight...... when I asked Emily to post pictures on her photo page of me LOL. So here's the link: <a target=new...

    Carey

Carey, This isn't CF-related, but I didn't think you read the off topic boards, nor did I want to hijack someone else's thread. Your email is bono40@something.com... are you a U2 fan? I am a huge fan, so I felt comepelled to ask! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

    stool question

JoAnn is right, some people with CF have more lung problems than digestive, some have more digestive than lung, and some have them both equally. The fact he is tiny may indicate some digestive problems, or it just may be a result of the fact his little body is working hard to work his lungs. If...

    CF Discovery Health Show

Jen, I may be wrong, but the title of the show makes me think it has little vignettes of patients, as opposed to focusing on one particular patient (or disease). Kind of like "Trauma: Life in the ER", my personal favorite on TLC. As for making sure we see this post closer to June, maybe the...

    Belly Button Ring?

Nicole, I'm exactly the opposite of you. I don't have my ears pierced because I don't want attention drawn to them (they stick out a bit). All my friends and my mom say "Just do it! It'll look good" but I'm still hesistant. I would though, get my bellybutton pierced in a heartbeat- right next to...

home IV vs in hospital IV

Indeed Mom-- 21 days went by slowly, but I wasn't really miserable that whole time. I was only clamoring to get out the last couple of days. It was very pleasant... full bathrooms, cable, movies on demand, internet access, a full bed for my mom. They basically have ALL single rooms there too.

what is a normal level for the sweat test?

I think between 40-60 is officially considered borderline, above 60 positive and below 40 negative. However, if it is in the high 30s and a kid is exhibiting a lot of CF symptoms, I'd get a retest or more extensive testing.

    so many questions!!

Just a clarification, it isn't 'almost certain' that if you are a carrier, one of your parents is. It is a 100% probability that one (or even both) of your parents is a carrier, or else you would not carry the gene yourself.

    touching story

I read about her in People magazine a few weeks ago. She was very talented in terms of photography in addition to doing this great thing. I was in the NICU for six weeks after birth, and my mom says she will never ever forget when this one particular baby died in his parents' arms. I'd imagine...
