Read this! Aggressive antibiotic treatments may not always be the best answer

Extremely interesting, thanks for posting! A recent discovery I've had (but that has been used in Germany since 15 years ago) is that breathing in lavender (3 drops of essential oil in 1 quart boiling water, for 5 minutes -- good unless you have astma I read) and breathing in your antibiotics 15...

    First CF Hemoptysis

It is indeed scary. The first time that was actual pure blood was for me about two years ago. Doctors said if you caugh up more than half a cup, you should go to the ER. I was once embolized. Last night I was feeling fine (but had had coughing fits several times over the past week), and had just...

What to do between rounds of tobi?

I took Tobi continuously for a longer time, but then started with bronchospasm. And also greater sensitivity with auditory issues. Doctor changed me to Tobi alternated with Colistin, works fine. (I started developing bronchospasm after abt. 14 years on Colistin non-stop, but after a break of...

    How awesome is your doctor?

Would be interesting if you had stated the city/hospital... Dr. Liou is Salt Lake City (Utah, USA) is a fantastic specialist, and has kept replying to my emails long after I was a patient of his! (during college time) I've had really bad doctors in the past! Now I am fortunate with Dr...

Question for those with ports or considering a port

I used to wear a port in my upper thigh (ages 14-18) which was fantastically convenient for taking care of self-medication (although I never accessed it) but dreadfully inconvenient because the area was painful and I couldn't wear jeans or participate in ball sports. Now I have a port in my...

How long before eating should one take enzymes?

I have a question here, I was wondering if I should open a new thread or use an existing one. As a child I was told to take enzymes "with meals". As a teenager, the doctor screamed when he heard, and stated I should take them immediately before the meal - which is in line with what most of you...

IMPORTANT!..Need to know what you people have had done to help your pnuemathoraxes!

I've only had one pneumothorax and that was when they inserted my port and accidentally pricked my lung. The procedure was getting a drainage tube inserted under my ribs, for nearly 10 days or so, and the doctors immediately prescribed morphin as much as I needed! Scary to know it was going to...

    I dont do my treatments

I've had depression too... But life goes on and CF is by no means a "death sentence", so have courage! I have had many "fits of rebellion" of not doing my treatments but that usually ended in IVs... Feel free to read my story! Stick in there!!
