    mental health-bad drug reaction

Avelox/Cipro/Levaquin up my anxiety and bad dreams, also cause me to have ankle tendon pain. The ankle part built over time, many many courses of this class of antibiotic. The anxiety and bad dreams took me a while to connect to the med. Now though, it helps to know that it's the med, and...

I thought you were a smoker

Do you get this comment when you say things like "I'm not contagious, I have an asthma-like condition/cf/a lung disease"? I recently got that comment when I felt I had to reassure someone I was in close quarters with for a long time that i didnt have the flu. It makes sense that the person...

    Seasonal Allergies Wreaking Havoc?

yes yes yes yes I don't even have a pollen allergy, but my allergist said it doesn't matter. The particles can be an irritant in a non-IgE way. For several springs in a row now, I get an infection in feb or march, antibiotics eliminate the febrile state and nastier mucus, but I spend the next...

    International Travel

http://www.cfww.org/pub/english/cfwnl/9/391/Brazilian_Cystic_Fibrosis_Study_Group This is a good article to read about CF care in Brazil. Toward the end of it is a link to CF centers in Brazil. As for medical equipment, diabetes is a worldwide problem, so my hunch is that TSA and other...

    International Travel

One MORE thing :). On the internet, you find a bunch of instructions on how to buy SIM card and install it in your phone or your phone company may tell you to get an international data plan. This is because if you use your data out of the country, you can rack up a bill in the multiple thousands...

    International Travel

I forgot to mention the most important part! My friend from Brazil goes back to Brazil to get any major medical or dental work done there rather than do it in the US. This is not CF care that she seeks, but still worth noting.

    International Travel

Rick, hi, my experience is with Argentina, Brazil's neighbor, but I do have a Brazilian friend and I can ask her on Tues when i see her which hospitals have the best reputation in her home city. That's the gist of the reply I'm posting here: In Argentina and maybe Brazil too, there are...

Recurring Fevers and shortness of breath

Maybe a bronchoscopy to look for NTMs? My experience with the fevers and getting sick again 5 days after stopping antibiotics was mycobacteria. And it didn't always show up in cultures. Another possibility is anaerobic bacteria from your stomach--I was told that it doesn't survive the culture...

    Vitamin D advice

Wow, thanks for all the additional replies. This is a lot of great information. Windex, I'm sorry swallowing and not throwing up these vitamins is a problem for you. You are free to vent! When the cure for something makes you sick, too, it makes complete sense to be frustrated. I hope you can...

    Vitamin D advice

Thank you! jthomp, I might check out the drops. I'll probably first see how the bottle of pills I bought work out. The cod liver oil also sounds interesting, though now I wonder if I should avoid it unless I am low in A too. (I slather Retin-A all over my face daily for acne, so I can't imagine...

    Weird SOB, weight on chest

Have you called your dr yet? I am guessing that he/she will order a cardiac workup. Very curious. Sounds unpleasant. How high was your heartrate? I've got familiarity with supra-ventricular-tachycardia (not me) and the heart rate goes into the low and mid 200s.

    Transplant or Not to Transplant?

Krazy4Katie, I want to add my hugs, thoughts and prayers for you and your family. I'm so sorry you are going through this and so upset for you and your daughters that such a shift in health happened so quickly. Does your daughter spend time on this site? She might read the Transplant section or...

    Vitamin D advice

Thanks for the additional info, Twist, Ethan, Jaimers, Ratatosk. I think rock climbing is like weight lifting. At least some muscles are sore about 50% of my days. I never drink milk (wow, Ethan, impressive milk consumption), only eat yogurt and cheese. So I'm going to try 4-6,000 a day...

    Vitamin D advice

Thanks for replying, Aboveallislove & Ratatosk. I picked up a 2000 ui tablet to take 1-2 times a day. Good to hear that the supplements seem to work. (I looked closer at the foods that are high in Vit D, and I already eat them all...a lot. Except for the cod liver oil. :-)

    Vitamin D advice

I got some bloodwork back and my D level is 15 (normal is 30-100, according to my dr). I have been taking supplements on an off over the year. I guess I need to be on and on. :) I'm wondering if anyone has a brand of Vit D supplement or a food they recommend. Since I have non-CF...

Have I helped anyone on this forum?

Believing, Hang in there...or "here" as it were. All we can do is try to be here for each other as best we can. I like to assume that if my feelings are hurt in some way, it was probably unintentional, and I hope others give me the same benefit of the doubt. Language is tricky, though...

    Pulmonary Hypertension

CFfisherman, This is the correct forum to post in for your question, but as no one has replied, I suggest posting again in the Adults section because it gets the most traffic and people might see it. I hope you get an answer!
