    Visiting in the hospital

When my grandma was ill and in the hospital and then nursing home, I visited her every day for about 4 months. I wore a mask and gloves every time- no exceptions. The last week she was there, flu was going around and my mom begged me not to visit, which I heeded. Just be smart about it, and...

CFRD. Just checked two hrs after lunch is 164

yes, she probably is headed towards CFRD, but the number arent that bad. There is a lot you can do to help, with diet, exercise, medication, etc. I ended up controlled my BS completely through diet and exercise. Just keep your doc up to date with what's happening. : )

    Rehab frustration

I have no advice, I'm sorry. I wish I could help, it sounds just plain horrible. Do you have access to some stronger pain killers? Can you contact your doc? Would water therapy be easier on your joints?? Hang in there, I know how exhausting constant and unrelenting pain can be. *HUG*

    Doctor with CF

I had a friend who became a doc. Her residency pretty much did her in and she passed away only a few years later. As Bill says, choose your field VERY carefully, and who you work for, what will be expected, etc. For my friend, the lack of sleep, nutrition, and lack of time to take care of...

    Sore toe...just one side

GOUT would be my first thought. Been there done that, it sucks. See a doc, get some meds, they really really help. Alcohol consumption always sets off my gout, as well as eating a lot of stuff like lamb. I've gotten gout expensively in both feet, wrist, finger, elbow, knee. The worst attacks...

    Ever dreaded a hospital stay?

OK, I'm sorry, I just have to say it. When HAVENT I dreaded heading towards the hospital, even for simple check-up? I am like a dog at the vets.....drag me in whipsawing at the end of my leash and get dragged out running for home tail tucked and whimpering............

    Flovent vs. advair

I tried Flovent, didnt seem to work too well. Tried advair, got better results (as measured by feeling better, less wheezing, less attacks) so Advair is what I'm on.

    ADHD

Hi shannon. I have CF and my husband has ADD. Hubby has next to no appetite on his meds. If he werent reminded to eat, he probably wouldnt. So I would say that's a valid concern for your youngest son. If I remember correctly, when my hubby was on wellbutrin about 15 years ago, he ate much...

    hypoglycemia in CF

mistyjo, sounds like very wise precautions. Frankly, if your daughter isnt needle phobic, I'd do it more often. I have found that pricking the dorsal side of the finger (near the cuticle) seems much less painful and you do get enough blood. let us know how it goes please. Blessings to...

Mistyjo, two hours is enough for it to spike high and then drop, if that is a pattern she might be showing.

scarecrow....you are so right, and your childhood sounds like mine! I spent my life on the back of a pony roaming around for hours and hours. My parents were amazing laid back about it. Often didnt know where I was all day. Turned into a professional for a while too : ) Had to give up my...

I've had issues with hypoglycemia since I was about 20. I registerer as low as 30, and thats when I start hitting the seizure line. (Yes, I have seized several times from LBS). Finally figured out what was going on and began to recognize the symptoms. I get irritable and then quite...

    CF and living location

Extremes are very hard for me, be it very humid or super dry. Stress, combined with poor air quality, will always set off my asthma every single time. I have noticed altitude being a factor, but given 24 hours, I adjust pretty quickly. However, that certainly may not be true for everyone...
