    Running Fevers

You should mention this to your doctor, and possibly treat empirically or get a bronchoscopy. You may not be coughing up the right gunk and the bronch could reach it. Or you may have bacteria that doesn't survive the petri dish. I had a long period with normal cultures and yet I responded...

    Mold inspection

Sue, I hope your best friend's house turned up clear in the subsequent testing and she is enjoying her new home. :-) We were too hesitant to go through with the purchase because of the types of mold and my lung problems. Also, would "clear" during the dry-winter really be clear once hot humid...

    Mold inspection

Long story short, we came very close to buying a home this past month, but after the regular inspection turned up a small amount of mold in the basement, we decided to bring in a specialist do air and tape samples from each floor of the house. The testing turned up extremely high levels of...

Just for fun but CF related - Real things doctors have said to me in the hospital

I think you've gotta read urmysunshine54's post with a sarcastic tone, and that the message was from the therapist, not a CF doc. So after an overwhelming clinic appt, the poster came home to find the bozo therapist's message insisting the poster didn't have CF...sarcastic-relief and not true...

CF and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome anyone?

JustDucky has EDS. I'm sorry you have this dx for your daughter, though I'm sure to a degree some answers and explanations are a relief. Hopefully she'll see your post or you can PM her, and she can share her experience with you. Hugs to you and your daughter.

    CF/bronchiectasis moms

I think you will benefit from reading a lot of threads in the Pregnancy section of this forum. There is a lot of discussion about meds, time management, and FEV1 changes. (You've probably already read there :-) Anyway, my personal advice is: 1) Make sure you really want a child vs. feeling...

    IV antibiotics and anxiety...Please respond!!!!

It took me a while to realize the quinolone class of abs (cipro, avelox, levaquin) make me prone to anxiety attacks--something I very very rarely have when off those meds--and they make my sleep wacky. For me, it helped a lot to simply realize it WAS the antibiotics. (But that's how my head...

    Intense pain in upper back...?

You can try mashing your back up against a wall when you cough--I've done that. Plus Advil if you're allowed. Hot baths. And maybe an Ativan too, as it's "kinda stressful" to feel all the stuff that needs to come up but be trapped by pain. Your ??!?! is right, you've gotta cough. My sympathies.

Foods that are good for working out but not losing weight

I can't speak to the malabsorbtion of CF, but I also exercise a lot and am trying to gain weight. I impression is that you have to work to take in more than you burn--period. That means eating more than your brain/stomach feels you need to and more often. Eat a great meal, then eat a granola...

    Allergic against cats

Singulair (montelukast sodium--an allergy/asthma daily pill that doesn't overlap with antihistamines) Allergy immuno therapy as Kristen said (I'm doing this for dogs, cats, mold and dust. I'm on year three and can clean a closet without intense itchy and drippy) inhaled nasal steroids...
