symbicort

Before using symbicort, I used albuterol about 4x daily. I tried Advair and seemed to do worse, also pulmicort. Perhaps it was the dry powdered inhalation business, I don't think it agrees with me. After a few weeks on symbicort, I stopped needing albuterol every day. I use it maybe 2x a day...

    Had my baby!!

Congratulations!! I am so happy things went smoothly for you, and your little boy arrived safe and sound. I am sorry you had to do so much CPT during labor--kudos though for getting it done. May you have sweet days ahead with tons of good food dropped off at your house :-)

    FEV1 with or without albuterol

I was initially told a 15% difference indicates asthma, and I did not make that cut--usually got a difference of less than 5%. Then when I went to National Jewish in Denver, I was off symbicort for a week and my difference was bigger. And when they did a methacholine challenge test--PFTs over...

What is the end of life for a CFer like?

LouLou, Can you explain your hemoptysis plan?
It's been a while for me since a massive bleed but the memory lingers and it is why I wear a medic alert bracelet that says I have bronchiectasis and von willebrands (bleeding disorder).
And I'll never forget when a woman from the...

    Late Diagnosis

I would get a full immune work up from an infectious disease specialist or even your primary care, just make sure they check all the sub classes of the IG stuff. Sorry that is not scientific sounding. I am basing this mostly on the throat ulcer comment, though if you were already on asthma...

    Getting Bronchoscopy Results

If you google MAC or MAI, you should find stuff from the University of Texas, Tyler campus and National Jewish Medical and Research Center. These are two big MAC (one of the mycos and the one that gets non-CFers the most) centers. If you have a mycobacteria, you will likely get a CT scan to...

    Ibuprofen

I love ibuprofen and try to use it carefully. I dose myself 200 mg at a time and do not use it if I am feeling well, which luckily is pretty often. My mucus production is lower when I am on it and I would not be surprised if my PFTs were different pre- and post-ibuprofen absorption too. Some...
