33,000 calories a day

Wow, 33,000 calories! I do remember a show that pictured a man who was over a thousand pounds who could not get out of bed. He was in is late twenties. I guess he agreed to go into a hospital to get his diet in order, the EMTs that transported him had to cut down a wall and get a special truck and stretcher to get him to that specialized hospitall for bariatrics. I cant believe that the people who loved him actually brought all of the food right to his bedside! It was a phenomenal amount....something that might equal a week's worth of groceries! Sadly, I believe that this individual died of heart failure after losing almost 200 lbs, his heart just couldn't take the stress anymore.
You would be amazed on how many calories are in a typical Mcdonald's meal. Has anyone ever looked at their nutrition pamphlets? I have....You can easily mow down almost 2500 calories in one sitting if your order the right stuff. For most folks, that's an entire day's worth of calories. The fat content as well as the carbs are way off the recommended charts too. I don't eat much Mc'Ds although I need a higher amount of calories. It seems that I really have to up my enzymes just to eat their stuff and my bowels don't thank me later!
I think that the biggest person I took care of was over 600lbs, he could barely walk and had great difficulty with his hygeine. He was always very embarassed to come into the hospital. I didn't treat him any differently than any other person, a good nurse doesn't do this but I couldn't help but think what got him to this point. He was very depressed, it was also found that he had severe sleep apnea related to his morbid obesity. He was subsequently treated with CPAP and started to lose weight. The next time I saw him, he said that he was being properly treated for his depression and had lost 200 lbs, I almost didn't recognize him!
Do you guys ever see the shows where parents allow their kids to eat huge amounts of food and are severely obese by the time they are 5? I think I saw one kid who weighed in at 230 lbs, she was 5!!!! Now that freaks me out and angers me to see that.
Hugs to all, Jenn

The reason they said it was bad is because a lot of the crap those people eat is nothing but grease. And while enzymes are your friend, they don't catch everything, so eating lots of grease isn't the best. You don't obtain all the weight, and your @ss gets raw from all the extra wiping (due to the greasy poop).

I know this is going to be an unpopular response, but I am going to say it.

Some (not all) obese people have medical issues that make them obese. It is not that they are shoving tons of calories down their throats all day. They try and try and can not take off the weight. Do you guys honestly believe people who are overweight want to be that way?? They struggle everyday to take the weight off just as you struggle to keep the weight on.

I was quiet surprised to see how uncompassioniate some of you were. These people have problems, emotionally and physically, and have feelings just like everyone else.

THis is along the same idea, but a bit of a twist to the obese topic. I have a friend who owns a funeral home. He had a guy that weighed 800 pounds plus die at our local hospital. What an episode this was. First of all the hospital itself didnt have anything large enough to hold him so the maintenance department "added a wing" onto the hospital bed. He couldnt be held in the Morgue because he wouldnt fit. Then when my friend came to take him to the funeral home, he had to use the pickup truck with an open bed from his other business. The herse couldnt handle the weight and I am not sure he could have fit in anyway. They had to special order a casket for him since the "standard" ones were too small. I dont know off hand if he was buried or cremated, but either way I would think it would have been difficult.
