With Dylan, our biggest problem is his weight. After they started all his meds all the lung issues seem to disappear. Whew! He scared us a couple of times last fall and I really really really dont want to go through that again.
As for my oldest son, he really never has presented any symptoms other than sinus allergies. Those are really bad for him. He is going to be 20 years old this August and I think it hit him a little harder than expected. But he has a girlfriend of 3 years and they have talked about having kids so I know whats on his mind. He is hoping that the meds will help with his sinus's. We give him as much comfort as he will allow and tell him that if he cant have children then adoption is always an option. There are so many kids out there who need a family and he would make a great dad.
Our clinic is Devos Childrens hospital in Grand Rapids. When we go back down on Wednesday I plan on talking with Dr. Schuen in regards to his staff. I love this Doctor and really dont want to have to move these kids to Ann Arbor.
Its amazing to me how much support is out there. In these past few days, I havent allowed much emotion to surface. I have always been like that. The tough one but the other day when I was talking with my daughters basketball coach, who we have know for a while now, and he offers his home to our children if we ever need to make an emergency run, then it just hit me like a ton of bricks. It took all I had to stay calm on the phone.
You guys here are amazing and I am finding that its making this a little easier. My daughters basketball coach told us that B-ball should be the least of our concerns right now.. I chuckled at him and told him it wasnt that simple. My kids live for their sports. Bottom line. He told us that because she has team camp next week in a town that is about 30 minutes from us. She plays 3 games a day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. She will go Monday as planned and will play only the first 2 games on Tuesday and wont be there on Wednesday. Her coach told us that he would bring her to us so we wouldnt have to drive that extra hour. But he also said that would shouldnt worry about basketball right now. HAH...not going to happen. Its our life also. They are really good at what they do and thats because of their commitment to everything they do.
Thank you again,
Tina
