I forgot to say in my last posting, that (in our state, at least) you can apply to be just a pre-adoptive home for kids in the foster care system. That means they would only come to you if they were already legally free for adoption. But there is not much chance to get an infant that way. Most our older by the time the court stuff is all figured out. I used to do foster care/adoptions for our state (WV) years ago as a state worker and I once placed a baby who was six months old with an adoptive family. But that was the exception rather than the rule--most were closer to two--even if they had come into care as newborns. The wheels of justice turn slowly as the saying goes... Anyway, that is why we decided to go ahead and foster, because we wanted an infant. Just wanted to mention that so you can still weigh all your options. I hope all is going well with the process so far. I remember when we were waiting/searching/hoping and my thoughts and prayers are with you!
