My Germ Guardian just arrived today and I can't wait to try it out. I've been using the Avant IQ something or other, which is a baby bottle sterilizer that uses steam. I have also boiled, but that is a pain in the butt for me. I like to just toss them in something, press play, and be done with it. Either of these options (Germ Guardian or the steamer thingy) are chemical free choices.

although H2O2 may seem like a "chemical." It breaks down to water so following the CFF suggested guideline of this method I feel is superior.

I wash the neb parts in warm water and soap. Rinse and soak in H2O2 for 30 min. While they are soaking I boil water for 15 min. rendering it sterile. I drain the parts and dump them into the sterile water and then dump the water/parts into a wire mesh strainer that I use only for my Pari parts.

It might sound labor intensive but I have enough nebs to only have to do it 2x per week. It only takes 5-10 min. of my time (aside from the soaking and boiling time). This method ensures that my nebs are sterile and dry. I found if I washed nebs often I was more likely to use a wet neb...bad.bad.bad.

I boil mine for 7-10 mins too, and I also have to soak mine in a vinegar/water solution periodically, because sometimes the minerals in the water will clog up my nebs (I use the Pari LC+). Once I've done that, they are as good as new!

I have 8 nebs, so when I am just doing my regular meds, I use 4 a day.

Andrea, I believe that the CFF has quit recommending the vinegar solution, because it doesn't kill all the germs we need it to. I will see if I can find the recommendations <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .
