If you have $9.99 to spare and don't think it is too girlie, try this Pilates video:
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.amazon.com/Rael-Pilates-System-27-Isacowitz/dp/B00061QIU4

I've always been on the thin side but after having three kids in less than four years, my belly was a disaster. In the morning, it would be flattish; but as soon as I ate a decent meal, it popped out farther than my 18wk pg belly pics...forget the stretch marks or muscle separation--I could make my fingertips disappear up to the second knuckle when I clenched my muscles.

Sooooo my attempts at mucus clearance through exercise led me to the obvious...walking/jogging, and also pilates.

Holy abs workout, Batman! I still have the stretch marks, but they are stretched over pure muscle. The video is hard. I still cannot do it all even though I have been doing it about 1x a week since July. I guess I need to do it more, but I have been pleased with my ability to eat a huge meal and keep it "in."

I've tried to get my husband to do the DVD and he says it is just too hard, but it is not a flexibility work-out.

Give it a try--if you dare ;-)

Sorry, but there is no such thing as "spot reducing". To lose your belly, you would have to lose weight overall. Burn more calories than you take in by doing cardio excercise. And if you are thin already, you would have to lose too much weight to achieve a flat stomach. That's why some thin people resort to liposuction and tummy tucks. People tend to store fat in areas of the body that is particular to them. So if someone loses weight and regains it, the fat will accumulate in the same area from which they originally lost it. That does change when someone has lipo or a tummy tuck. If they gain weight, the fat will now accumulate in a new unwanted place. Could even be at the top part of the back, creating a mini hump!

To figure out if it is fat or a bloated stomach, most gyms have what they call skinfold calipers which measure subcutaneous fat at 7 different sites around the body -- with the abdomen being one part that is measured. As they used to say, "Can you pinch an inch?" In other words, if you can grab an inch or more, it's fat.

Either way, you can still tighten and tone your abs with crunches. You can get that six pack again. Depending on your body type, you may or may not have a little fat over them. At any rate, working out will make you look and feel better. It is truly the only fountain of youth.

I'm 35 and have discovered that I recently have been diagnosed with CFRD. I was getting sick so much that I knew something wasn't right. I was tired all the time and had no motivation to do anything. However, now, it's a new freaking day. I discovered what a little insulin can do for me. I'm feeling like a new person and want to gain some muscle, but wan to remove the belly. What if anything can I do about this? I know I need to hit the gym and start doing crunches like there's no tomorrow, can anyone give me some tips on how to remove the buddha belly, or am I stuck with this???</end quote>

I don't know if you are stuck with it. And my solution made my belly worse for a long time (as in I was being congratulated on my pregnancy!), which is part of why I have hesitated to say anything (plus, my computer died two weeks ago and has been in shop...oops) and it's still not flat, but is improving. My experience is that when I am dumping toxins, my belly bloats up badly and then I have to go to the bathroom a lot, and then it shrinks. One health care professional told me that toxins in the lymphatic system drain to your gut to go out with the rest of the waste. That fits with my experience. So my assumption is that a general improvement in health may be what a person with CF needs to get rid of the bloated gut.

As I have gotten healthier, I have generally shrunk all over while still having a bloated belly, but the belly is gradually getting better. With doing so much walking in recent months, I have lost another dress size and I am looking fit enough that men honk and all that crap when I am walking somewhere. I think I still look "fat" but I clearly look better than I used to. My stomach still bloats up really badly after I do something to help dump the toxins from my system, then I go to the bathroom a lot and it shrinks down again. I think the bloated tummy will go away when I am done cleaning up the mess from not having a diagnosis for nearly 36 years and having to nearly die before they did diagnose me.

Good luck with this.
