I do use Tobi - my doctor is really big on it. I only do it once a day, though as opposed to the normal 2 x. I don't know if it helps running or not? I can tell you though that running will make your lungs feel great...

Lindsay-I can see how hill workouts will make you run faster! I just started doing a track workout 1 x a week for speed. It was so nice to run on a "rubber" track since I am so used to running on the road! Do you have any races in mind for your next???? I'm sure I'll have the itch again soon to do another full marathon - maybe Feb, march or april??? Just the training is such a commitment and the race itself is PAIN!!! The training is really hard to fit in with my son (almost 3) - it's hard on me and my hubby!

luv2run: Right now I'm focused on getting my knee back to normal (hopefully with swimming and biking at the gym) and then maybe I'll think seriously about the 2009 chicago marathon, since I enjoyed it so much the first time around (and it's a fairly flat route).

Well I'm starting to make some progress with my running/walking. I ran a mile and a half and walked a half mile the other night. I am doing about 10 minute miles right now, which I am happy with. Progress seems to sort of sneak up on me- I feel like I'm not gaining, then I push myself a little just to see, and I find that I have, in fact gained endurance.

Hi,
I used to do Tae kwon do with cf people a long time ago when we weren't concerned about infection control (so over 20 years ago). One of the little boys, who was annoying at the time and didn't listen to the slow breathing techniques the instructors were teaching up to help us with our CF, is now all grown up and a big exercise guy who is training for an iron man. He's turned into quite the athletic CF guy who is a main advocate for CF and finding a cure through his training.

Here's his website: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.fightforever.org/main/wesite.html
">http://www.fightforever.org/main/wesite.html
</a>
I recently ran into him at a CF institute day in the chicagoland area. It was amazing to see him again after so many years.

At this institute day, we had an inspirational speaker -- Lisa Bentley who has CF -- who has run many iron mans!! Here's her website: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://lisabentley.com/bio.htm
">http://lisabentley.com/bio.htm
</a>
I am constantly amazed at those who can run long distances. I have an ability for a long endurance, but can only do long walks. Once I start running, I can only do 5 minutes and it wipes me out.

Any ideas for trying to get into running without feeling like I am going to pass out from exhaustion and SOB?
