I sing. I have entered a few competitions for fun and had a few demos done. I think singing really does help lung functions, however, it is not a replacement for exercise. I actually stopped singing for 2 yrs and I lose quite a bit of lung functions. I think if I had continue to sing through those years, then I might not have dropped as fast as I did. I had a huge range and could sing just about anything. However, due to the lung functions dropping and the muscles loosing the strength that they had, I only have half of what I could do. With lower lung functions, its hard to sing as long or as strong as I would like. However, I do sing on local TV station every year at the Cystic Fibrosis telethon. Other than that, I usually keep my singing around family & friends...nothing else public. Not that I dont like singing in public, it just gives me out quicker than it use to. Not only cause of lung functions, but most places around here where you can sing also allow smoking, so I dont go.
