Iwas so happy to read I am not the only one going through ivf..

My name is Kelly and I am a 29 year old cfer that has been trying with my husband for the past year. We went through 3 rounds of clomid/iui with no luck and have now agreed to go unto invitro. I am so happy to see that their are other women out there who has also had the same problems I have in concerns of fertility.

My husband is fortunate enough to make enough to where I do not have to work but to allow me time to work on my health. I have only missed one treatment in the past 18 years and only normally go in for tuneups once a year. I walk 3 miles a day and do all I can to stay healthy though my fev1 is only at 65%.

For those how have gone through this please if you will answer the following questions:
1) what was your fev1 before and after
2) Did any of the injections interfear with cf meds?
3) What cf meds were you on while doing the cycle
4) Did you do icsi with ivf or pgd?

My husband has tested negative for the gene thus I don't know if we should still do pgd testing..

Thanks so much for your time!

there is a thread here somewher that talks about FEV pre and post pregnancy so you can look up everyone's I know it has been posted on wihtin past month so it should be too far buried-I will try to find it and bump it.

1) before 93% after97%
2)no but I think the hormones might have affected my hemoptysis
3)advair, zyrtec, singulair, nasacort, pulmozyme, tobi, albuterol, zithromax
4)IVFw/ICSI due to male factor morphology issues

If I may ask where is everyone located and what center did you use for your ivf? Did your ivf team work with your doctors? I am going to Northwestern in Chicago for my ivf. I have read so much and the only thing that really has me concerned is the Progesterone in Oil. Are these shots as bad as they sound?

I am going to a small RE here in MI and they never coordinated anythign with CF docs until Ilanded in ER for hemoptysis during my cycle and then they talked with CF docs and perinatologist to all figure out what was best. I continued the cycle while on cipro though I am 100% I was NOT sick since i had just finished IV"s and that was just to get healthy before pregnancy I wasnt even sick then but it had been 14 mo since I had been on them so I needed a tune up before pregnancy.

In a word YES PIO is not fun. I recommend icing your bum for a few minutes first then make sure to warm the pio once in needle between your hands or we would lay it on heating pad for a minutes, after the shot then have DH apply pressure to injection site for 1 minute then rub for 1-3 minutes to work pio in then apply heating pad for a few minutes and dont do it right before bed because you want iit to get worked into the muscle not jsut sit there. It is only bad when you get a BFP and have to keep takign them but then you dont mind so much --KWIM? Best of luck to you. My nauseau calmed down after 10 weeks when I stopped pio also.

PIO was definitely the worst of all the shots. Actually, it was about the same as the HCG shot, or any other IM shot. My butt was so sore! I had knots and bruises. I never warmed the PIO, I kept it room temp and had DH inject it. I just breathed deeply and looked at a picture book with photos of babies faces. Then I would sit up on a heating pad and finish my breathing treatments, and off to work I went. Navigating stairs got bad because it just feels like you have bruises on your butt and when you use the muscle, such as on stairs, it hurts, but definitely bearable and definitely worth it.

I also had the suppositories Julie was talking about. We did both until I was 11 weeks along in the pregnancy.

I forgot to answer the important questions. My RE was completely separate from my CF doc. I went to a local RE called Northern California Fertility Medical Center (NCFMC) near Sacramento, CA. I did bring copies of my PFTs to the RE before we started my cycle. That was about it, other than list my meds for him too. The RE referred me to a peri, but I just went there for u/s's. I had a regular OB, also recommended by my CF doctor long before I got pg. Between OB appointments and peri ultrasounds and non stress tests (I had twins), and weekly visits to the gestational diabetes team, and the CF team, and my CF doctor.... there were loads of appointments during the last two months. It literally was a full time job. I stopped working at 20 weeks, and never went back. Now I'm on SSDI since my health is poor enough to qualify. I'm still able to care for the twins though, they are 2.5 years old now.
