Anyone have experience wit Dyson vaccums?

I think it is probably just a personal preference for each person, but we bought a Dyson probably a couple of years ago. We love it! It is expensive, but I think it was well worth it. We have had a Dirt Devil and an Oreck in the past and they didn't work all that great. We had the Dirt Devil, I think for 1 year, and the motor burned up. The Oreck did ok for awhile, but then started not to pick up very good. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats which is why we bought the Dyson Pet vaccum. It seems to pick things up well. It does have attachments (I believe there is 3 or 4).

The only thing negative that I can say is that it is somewhat heavy compared to others we've had. I can manage with it, but it can be hard to carry up the stairs. You do have to clean the filter every 6 months also (and probably your canister also if you have a dusty house like we do).

I don't really know for sure about hardwood floors as most of our house is carpeted. We do have one room with tile and one with harwood. It seems to do well.

i have been tempted to by a dyson, but figured that my husband would kind of flip out on me if i spent 500 dollars on a vaccum. in the townhouse we had before the house we are in now. i hated lugging it up the stairs (so i made sure this house was one story <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">) when we moved in the house we are in now i tried using my eureka, but the motor had burned up from the dog hair, cat hair, and misc pieces of dog toys i had sucked up. the hair got caught in the hose and lessened my suction so bad that it killed the vaccum. so when we moved into this house i bought bissell cyclone. I have one dog and two cats and all three of them shed pretty well. my only problem with this vaccum now is the dog and cat hair get stuck in my filter and i have to stick my hand in a one inch hole so that i can pull clumps of hair out in pieces. so i have been seriously looking at the dyson animal and have talked to my husband about getting it. i told him after we buy new cell phones and get rebates next feb we could take the rebates and then fork out the rest of the money to buy the dyson. and i explained to him that it would be good for me, good for him, and especially good since we are expecting. does anyone know if they've had a problem with hair getting caught in a filter on the dyson? my vaccum now has two filters (one of them is a hepa and the other one is for i don't know what, but the second one is where stuff gets caught). thanks for any help you guys can offer! i've really been enjoying reading all the positive feed back on the dyson!

these are great canister vacs. they have a double filter (one of which is HEPA) and are designed to not kick up dirt with the exhaust. the miele works awesome on hardwoods (my whole house) and can do carpet with the flip of a switch. the vac is lightweight, quiet, and they come in fabulous colors!

i used to get very short of breath, watery eyed, and sneezy when sweeping. now that barely happens. it is a breeze to vacuum the whole house. and as a bonus, the vacuum head goes easily under my couch, and the attachments let me clean drapes and other stuff up high no problem.

oh, and by the way, i found my little blue miele on sale for about $360 (normally $400 or a little more) at a local store. they are also online. AND, there is a good warrenty on them that you do NOT have to pay for.
