Thanks for the info, Tami. You just saved us 50 bucks since we were thinking about getting one. If that's the case, I'll just stick to shaking the water out then. :)

We use the Germ Guardian and love it! We use two neb cups a day (sidestream) for Bricetons Pulmozyme and two Pari neb cups for his Tobi. Once a day I soak all his nebs in warm soapy water and then let them air dry. Before bed I put them in the sanitizer and the next morning they are ready to use...and sterile!

We started using the Germ Guardian about 4 months ago after melting several neb cups in the pot.....as you know not only do you lose a neb cup but you also lose the pot, so I decided to go the Germ Guardian route. A few weeks back I was talking on the phone to Bricetons CF nurse and she had just gotten back from the CF conference in California. She said that the Germ Guardian was highly recommended at the confrence by the manufactures of Pari & Sidestream. And now that is what my son's clinic suggest and recommend for sanitizing neb cups, spacers, etc...

For us it works!

Thank you purplemartin for the info.

I too have a germ guardian, used it for a few months and felt it didn't get hot enough to sterilize properly. So I went back to boiling and watching carefully.

If Pari & Sidestream are now endorsing and recommending the sanitizers, I'll start using it again because it is really easier than boiling.

I also use the germ guardian and love it. But I wasn't always good about boiling and hated the residue it left on them. So I figure this is better then nothing. I also did ask my doctor and she said it was fine. I wash them at night and let air dry and then run the machine 1st thing in the morning and then Tanner or I take them from their. Great place to store til ready to use too. I think they get pretty hot by the end. I would be lost without it!!
