The one that tends to work for me at fundraisers is the fact that CF causes irreversible lung damage. So that everyday while we wait for a cure, children and adults with CF are losing lung function that will never be recovered, even if they survive until a cure is found. It's not particularly uplifting, but it gets people thinking about how urgent it is to get new drugs out of the pipeline and to the patients FAST because every single day counts - even when we don't "feel" sick.

I also love the "money = science and science = life" line. Thank you, Dr Beall <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I think its important for people to know that CF isn't JUST a lung disease. So many people that I have talked to think that it means not being able to breathe. They don't know about the smelly stool, the GI issues, and the weight problems that can go along with it.

I hate to bring this one up, but sadly some children still die very young from this disease (even with some of the new advancements).
Bringing children into the equation makes parents and adults in general take notice sometimes. No-one wants to see an innocent child suffer ....
