Did you find out through your medical records?

I dont recall ever finding something out that my doctors didnt tell me. As to the collapse.....this amazes me. During my hospital admit this time, just the "thought" of a collapse pushed them to look further. Between the xrays, cat scans, iv's, chest pt & the bronch we were assure it was not collapsed.

The idea was to try & keep as much lung function as possible. I feel even more grateful now about having the doctors I have.

This has never happened to me, but I'm so sorry that it happened to you and all of these other people. I think that's terrible and you SHOULD feel pissed.

This is why a couple days after DS's appointment, I fill out a Release of Information form and send it to the local clinic records office requesting doctor's notes, culture reports, labs, etc. from that day. Too many times we've found that he's been culturing something and they don't bother to tell us. I also have them forward the info on to DS's primary cf doctor in the City.

The doctor's notes are almost always entertaining. He's a little insecure with our seeking medical treatment elsewhere, so he sometimes gets a little passive agressive in his comments.

To a much lesser extent, yes, we've already had this happen. My daughter isn"t even 2 yet. Her first X-ray showed "peribronchial thickening". I know its not a big deal for a CFer to have this, and to the tech and even the CF docs they must've thought "just part of CF." But I was very angry that I had to read it on her medical file, not hear it from someone. It shows early involvement and I think wqew deserve to know that -- so my point is that it really sucks with your situation. I'd talk to the doc to see that something similar doesn't happen again.
