Did you find out through your medical records?

Yes I have had this happen. I think we will see less of this as more people - not just cfers - become e-patients. It will be interesting to see how it effects the whole medical system since the average appt. is 15 min. long...hardly enough time for exams and detailed discussion of all the findings. I think most doc's reveal stuff on a need to know basis. For this reason I order a copy of my medical records every year. With wanting to build an SSDI case eventually I want to see that my health is being documented correctly. Also I like to see what's going on. Make sure they didn't forget to tell me something.

Sometimes doc's hold back info that might make us emotional for no good reason. I suspect that the results of my ct scan (first ever!) this Fall is this way. He knows I like to see copies of everything and to discuss in detail. LOL I usually have the doctor in my room for 2 hours on average. I even email an agenda the day before so that he can do what he can to expedite it. This Fall I have had a lot going on and have shown emotional instability to them for the first time. We've been handling the required items but he keeps pushing off discussion of the ct scan. I guess that will be my news for Jan.

I found out I cultured a strange version of pseudo through reviewing my labs. It's not a version to be alarmed about so they didn't call me on it and since I have the internet I never even discussed it with them since I did my own research and found it to be *almost* a non-issue.

What does the doctor say about the collapsed lobe? Was it like that last time you were xrayed?

They should tell us everything - the good, the bad and the ugly, regardless. The fact that there was a change, big or small, should be noted to the patient. I would be pissed if they didn't tell me something.

i would be pissed.

have u talked to rao about it?

that clinic has been extremely busy lately and quite frankly i'm not surprised something like that has happened. although i was encouraged to hear that rao stopped seeing all other pulmonary patients other than CF.

that really stinks. i'm sorry to hear that kell <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Thanks guys, always nice to hear I'm not the only one who this has happened to. I reread the report where it talks about my collapse and low and behold, it actually says "Other findings in the lungs are without change that include complete collapse of the left upper lobe with bronchiectasis..." This ct was compared to my one from last year, 6/06, which means I have no idea when I got this collapse. I've had it for over 1 year and no one has told me!

Luckily I'm seeing another specialist next month and will have all my medical records, cts, etc with me, and see what they say. That will be interesting. I wonder if they will want to remove it or what. I think my doctor has reached his limits on what to do with me.
