Do CF commercials bother anyone else?

I am Sorry to say that I have Never seen
a CF commercial here in the US.

Not sure why, but I would be okay with it
asl long as they didn't refer to us as
Cfer's. Thet is only for another Cfer or a spouse
or parent. When Someone else says it sounds
Bad, To me anyway.

The first time I was in the hospital from Cf
I had 2 interns stand on either side of the bed talking
as if I wasen't there, and ther called me a Cfer.
I was so Pissed. I told them what I thought of it.
One was heavy the other had a huge nose,
So I refered to them as big butt and big nose,
They got the Point. It was at Georgrtown, a teaching hospital.
They told my Doctor who was thier Prof. He laughed his butt off.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

He said it was a Good Lesson for Them.....

Before the new cf commercials (the deflating ones, there is also one of a young boy brushing his teeth) we received a letter from the cf foundation warning us about how harsh they were. Two letters in fact, one written by an adult for me and my husband and one written for the twins from a youth.
Every time I see any commercial about c f I get a sinking feeling BUT I am so glad that they are out there to raise some kind of awareness. The reality is that cf does kill, and if thats what people take notice of in commercials, to raise funds......then I say bring them on!

the only commercial I've ever seen that even metions CF is one for Seattle's Children's Hospital. It says something like "We are making advances on cancer and cystic fibrosis."

I HATE the new Halls commercial. This guy is in a Japanese restaurant and starts coughing and can't stop. Everyone around him moves away and gives him bad looks. Then the chef makes him take a Halls. Obviously, it isn't the commercials fault but it brings up bad memories of what happens whenever I start coughing

brad, i have often wondered if everyone on these forums who had cf was bothered by the "cfer" tag. personally i don't like it but i can't put my finger on what bothers me about it. you don't hear people refer to a cancer sufferer a "cancerer" do you.

I don't know if this neccesarily applies, but I get SO annoyed when I hear sad dramatic commercials on the radio about helping to cure diabetes or asthma. I know those are terrible things and can be serious. But when I hear the announcer say-"this is so and so, and she couldn't have a normal childhood, so please vote for politician so and so b/c they support their cause...." Its like-a normal childhood-talk to a cfer or a kid with cancer about a normal childhood. That is a big pet peeve of mine.
