This question is for "point" What job do you work that allows you to work from home a few days a week? Do you get health insurance through your employer?

I work part time (24 hrs) as a genetic counselor. I didn't necessarily plan to work part time, but what i found after grad school was part time. I wouldn't go full time at this point. Although my health is good, I get tired easily, so part time is good for me. I want to make sure I have time for the things I really love in life and not be so tired at the end of the day/week that I can't spend time with my friends, husband, etc.

I just applied for SSD. I'm 31 and worked full time for 4 1/2 years; this time. I had taken a break before because everything got to be too much.

It's happening again, but in addition to CF I have some other medical problems that are contributing.

I have been blessed with a wonderfully flexible job. A couple months ago when I got so sick I was thinking of going on disability and no longer working, but I'm happy to report I'm going back to work part-time next week. I also work part-time as a professional freelance writer.

Working, managing health and having a home life/social life is indeed a delicate balancing act. I've learned that by putting health first, the other aspects of my life fall into place more easily. I've learned that I cannot "borrow" energy against tomorrow. I have to carefully consider what I do in a given day and be very wise about how I spend my time.

It's a challenge to work full time and manage CF, but it is doable. That being said, not everyone can handle it. If you're one of those people who simply can't make it all work, there's no shame in that.
