Enzymes with everything?????????????

Briceton takes enzymes with absolutely EVERYTHING, even bananas! Of course at 12 months old, I try to makes sure everything he eats has nutritional value and lots of fat. He is still on formula (casin allergy) and we do not substitute with anything other than an occasional ounce of water or the rare sip of soda. This was advised by his nutritionist. So in our case at the moment, enzymes call for everything!

Edited to say: We give enzymes with the Gerber fruit puffs, only becuase Briceton eats MANY at a time. We were told that more than the actual individual serving size, which is aprox 11 should be taken with enzymes. Briceton will eat aprox two-three serving sizes at any given time----even after a huge meal, the boy is ALWAYS hungry!

If you do eat an apple you don´t need to take enzyms, but it is better to eat an apple and for example a bit of chocolate with it and take enzyms, so that your body will get the fat soluable vitamins out of the fruit.

Enzymes should be taken with all food except fruit, lollies, water icy poles...anything which has fat in it needs enzymes. The dose we use here is one creon 10,000 per six grams of fat. Example: Mcd's cheese burger = 12 grams fat (my guess!) = two creon 10000.

It is possible to cause serious problems if you give too many enzymes also...here (Australia, my kids clinic), the maximum amount of creon 10000 should not exceed one capsule for each kilo of body weight per day.

My son = 39 kilos, therefore, total dosage of creon should not exceed 39. He probably has about...counting....24 a day, depending on what he eats.

The answer to "how many enzymes" and "what foods call for enzymes" is going to differ clinic to clinic and person to person. As you see, no one who has replied has the same advice or answer. I suggest talking to the nutritionist and going over with her/him the main foods your child eats. That way you can get her/his suggestion on the # of enzyme and what foods she/him deems appropriate with enzyme usage. Also, research nutrition with enzyme usage.....you may form your own oponion about enzyme usage!

Edited to say you may form your own oponion about enzyme usage!---meaning on what to take enzymes with or without.....not enyme usage as a whole. Just wanted to clear that up in advance in case it was misunderstood.
