We currently have the bleeding and bright red rash as well. Poor little guy he just screams, shakes, and kicks when I change his diaper. Lately when he has a bowel movement ( which is a few times a day) I rinse his bottom off in the tube instead a wiping it with a wet wipe. The warm water seems to add a little comfort to his sore little bottom. We seem to get these horrible rashes very often and have been prescribed Happy Heiny, triple paste, and Clotrimazo. It still takes a few days for it to go away.

Hi sarah
My twin boys had a real problem with bad diaper rash when they were babies. To begin with it was caused because their enzymes were initially going right through them and burning their little tushes! They were also in oxygen tents and mist tents for the first two years of their lives, so the moisture really didnt help! We tried everything, including corn starch, sudo cream, zinc creams , nystatitn, and hydrocortizone creams. In the end we found the best thing for it was air! We would keep them bare butt as much as possible to let the air help heal it.

In the NICU they used some stuff called critic-aid. Was made by baza or sween (company changed names). It was a triple paste but MUCH thicker than the butt paste at the store. It's made for people who have incontinence issues. It forms a barrier and doesn't come off until you wash it off. Worked wonders, but did stain and gotta kinda thick. I ordered a bunch of it from Hocks.com, but have seen it at the pharmacy, too.

Speaking of enzymes going right through.......Ever since we had to switch Zoey to viocase to put it down her tube it always seemed like they werent doing anything. She still has 8-10 greasy smelly bowel movements a day. Could her enzymes be going right through? Maybe thats why she has the bad rash?

DS's bright red monkey butt was usually caused by loose stools. Took forever to figure out his enzymes. Or we wouldn't realize he had a messy diaper and he didn't seem to mind sitting it, so the poor kid...

i always remember my Grandmother telling me about using egg white on nappy rash, i tried it on my son when he had bad rashes due to having eczema <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> and it worked a treat, <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> just the egg white though not the yolk <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My son is almost 20 yrs old now so this was a very old treatment seeing as it was my grandmothers tip <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

hope that helps
