Im glad to see so many nursing mommas.

Kitomd21 I just wanted to let you know that its very very very rare for a baby to be allergic to breastmilk, and most of the time they are just allergic to something the momma is eating (dairy maybe?) I would see a trained IBCLC before you give up breastfeed.

I was told by my doctor that breastfeeding a jaundice baby is dangerous and will make the jaundice worse - which is completely untrue, so ALSO take the advice about breastmilk from a IBCLC before the doc, when it comes to be allergic n stuff.

Our CF kiddo only joined the family in March, at age 6. So, obviously I have not breastfed him. But, before I got pregnant, I was considering pumping and supplementing him with some in the cold and flu season. He traveled cross-country to join our family and I'm quite concerned about how he's going to handle the cold and flu season since everything will be brand-new bugs to him. When we brought our son home from India, he must have had 10 colds that first winter because he had never been exposed to any of them before.

Now that I'm pregnant, that's not an option. So, obviously I won't.

Thanks for your reponse, Jessica. I was entertaining the allergy to breastmilk because I wanted another cause of her loose stool rather than CF. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> I'm not entertaining the idea of not breastfeeding...but fortifying what I'm pumping has really helped in her weight gain! Yea!
