Wow, 4 kids under the age of 20 months?! Congrats... that's a LOT of work! My sister has CF and her husband was tested and found to NOT have the common CF mutations. They are expecting via surrogate their biological child in December. They did 1 round of IVF and it succeeded, thankfully! I think my sister would go out of her mind! She was sad the one month that her eggs were too small and then too large to harvest safely. The surrogate did have twins in one sac that did not make it past the 7 weeks so if they did make it, my sister and her husband would have triplets! No offense, I think that would have been hard on my sister physically to care for 3 kids while taking care of her CF -- her husband would have to work full time still to maintain the insurance.

I'm planning in the next 3 months to have a child and have to make there is no risk of CF. I wouldn't want to take the risk. I have enough burden being a mom with CF -- I'd feel guilty if I caused my child to have CF.

Note: I am the 2nd child of 3 CF kids in my family. I do not blame my mom and dad for having me. My life is so wonderful despite the CF so I am grateful I am alive. I just wouldn't knowingly take a 50% risk of CF for my child. Just my opinion!
