Getting a new vest

I still have the old Vest. About 2 years ago, when I switched insurance, I tried (with Aetna) to get a new Vest. I am not sure why, but Hill-Rom said to get the script written for an "upgrade" to the new model. Aetna wasn't the insurance co that paid for the first vest, so they were none the wiser to my vest situation. As you can imagine, Aetna rejected it, saying that it was just a "convenience". So, make sure that your docs don't write upgrade on the script! It's an easy out for the insurance company!

We recently went through getting a new vest for my husband last year. He has a Hill-rom vest that was extremely old. Our insurance would only cover a portion of the cost because all of the vest companies were out-or-network. There are only a few companies that make the vest so that didnt seem fair.

we finally went with smartvest because we were able to write a letter to the company stating that we could not finacially afford the payments due to our recent adoption and husbands hospitalization. And they wrote off our whole bill!!

I hadnt heard about which vest is better, so not sure if we went with the right one or not- but their customer service got me.

Melissa, even worse is that I had been emailing Warwick at that time and had printed info he sent me and took it to that appointment. The RT basically said that the vests are all the same and that Warwick is like a "mad scientist".

I was seriously upset after this appointment, especially since we were seeing another RT that we really like and this rude one butted into our conversation about vests and took over.

I would like to explore this further though to see if there is anything I can do.
