Getting a new vest

Well, my brother and I had to share a vest growing up, and he got a new one when he went off to college, which is a much lighter, compact machine. So I am left with the old one. I was told that my insurance probably wouldn't pay for a new one unless mine stopped working. Even though I was told this, I don't want to test it because I have had so many problems with my insurance company covering things, I am about ready to pull my hair out! Good luck getting your new one!

If we didn't have "mad scientists," we wouldn't have things like rabies shots. Or new potential treatments for CF. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

I upgraded to a compact 104. I wrote a letter on my ex-clinic's behalf bc they didn't have time to do these sort of projects they considered frivolous. The letter is in my blog. So here's the deal if you have a Hil-rom and want another smaller Hil-rom they are obligated to tell your insurance (even if it's changed since the last time you got your vest) that you have a vest at home. I have no idea why. I got in a fight with the lady about it and told her if I took my biz to another company it wouldn't be an issue that they wouldn't mention I had a vest already. At the time I didn't realize other company's vests were any good. So I gave it one good shot with Hil-rom. I wrote the letter explaining why I needed a smaller, lighter weight vest...for travel...increased compliance, etc. And they approved the smaller vest 100%. You need a convincing arguement why you need a smaller more portable one.

A couple year's later my ins changed again. This time I went with a script for the Respirtech Incourage. Insurance covered it no problem. Another thing to be careful of is if your ins co. asks for med records make sure nothing is mentioned of use of the vest.
