I'm with Julie... Dr. Opshal was great!!! In fact we didnt have to do a biopsy. Kinda funny but when we went in the doc said he could tell by the size of his testicals. He pulled out this thing that looked like a roseary of balls and compared Tyler and because of his size he said he was good to go. ( it was pretty funny).

It was funny... way before I ever met Julie or anyone else that had done IVF I had that feeling that I was gonna have triplets. Then when Tyler and I did our IVF procedure we were thinking would just put one in and then two and we ended up putting in 4. Tyler was freaked out about the possibility of 2 at first but then by a week into waiting he really wanted triplets too. When they gave me the ultrasound I was like are you sure there is only 2... I'm so happy about my 2 but I'm not gonna be convinced there is only 2 until I hear the heart beats.

Anyways I would look at the clinic Julie and I went to because of Dr. Opshal and the prices. I seriously went to a few other clinics (and was even monitored at a different one) but none of them felt right, going to NorthWest center for reproductive Science felt like more of a homie friendly environment, I was comfortable as soon as I walked through the door.

I contacted a clinic near us in Tempe, AZ and made an appointment for a consultation. I was surprised to find out that they wanted to charge us almost $300 just for the consultation. And our insurance covers NOTHING for IVF procedures. Is it normal to charge for the consultation? We just wanted to get some answers before proceeding. Our daughter is 10months, so we aren't in a hurry.

Yes, our consultation would have cost us $300; however, our insurance paid for it. I hope your insurance pays for any testing that they will do. On one day alone, I accrued bills of $930.00!!! I don't know what if any tests they will do on you and your husband, but it can get expensive if your insurance company doesn't pay a dime. My hubby and I just jumped all those hoops starting July 25th to now. We only need to dish out cash for the actual IUI or IVF. Thankfully, our insurance company paid for all the testing.

Our consultation was $300 on July 25th.
Day 3 of cycle - bloodwork and ultrasound $930.00
Day 8 of cycle - tube scan
Day 9 of cycle - uterine scan
Day 11 - hubby's sperm count
Day 23 - "review appointment"

On Day 1 of next cycle, we start the whole IUI process.
Day 3 of cycle - bloodwork and ultrasound
I think Day 5 I will start the Clomid.
After that, I have more bloodwork and ultrasounds to confirm that I'm going to ovulate and when.
When we know the exact time, we will do the IUI.
Two weeks post IUI - pregnancy test.

Sorry if this is scattered somewhat. I'm just starting to get the EOB's (Explanation of Benefits) now from Capital Blue Cross. That is why I know some of the charges but not all of them.

I'm positive they will make you and your hubby get a complete blood panel. They will probably make him give a sperm sample too, even though you have a daughter already. They will want you to get the ultrasounds to know when you are about to ovulate.

They may NOT make you get a tube or uterine check. They will likely put you on something like Clomid to help you release more than 1 egg for the IVF. Other than that, I can't help you much since I didn't/hopefully won't do IVF.

I don't know what if any tests they will do on you and your husband, but it can get expensive if your insurance company doesn't pay a dime. My hubby and I just jumped all those hoops starting July 25th to now. We only need to dish out cash for the actual IUI or IVF. Thankfully, our insurance company paid for all the testing.
