Hi, I have a 10 year old boy who has always had a problem with weight. Then we discovered Scandishakes on this site. They are 600 cals when mixed with whole milk and they are working great! Give them a try. My son loves them as hot chocolate and cold. We send a cold one to school with him to have with lunch and then he has a couple of hot ones in the evening. My son has a J tube and we mix in some of the shakes with the peptemen at night also. Right now he is getting in about 4500 cals aday. The nutritionist was happy with the weight gain he showed after only having been on the shakes for about 2 weeks....4.6 lbs!! You can order the shakes right from the company. A 24 pack box is like $40. After we started them and he gained the dumb lady gave me some...I was so mad they had them and knew about them but didn't bother sharing that with us! Sometimes I had the doctors. He also takes a lunch to school with him. We get the thick slice bologna which is like 150 cals a slice if i remember right, 2 slices with butter. He also takes a couple chocolate chip granola bars we get at walmart that are 200 cals each. If you would like to talk more on things we are doing let me know. This site is the best for information! Parker's feed consists of three Scandishakes a night with a blend of whole milk and half and half for over 2000 calories in 3.25 hours. There are additional bolus feeds when he doesn't want a meal or other occasions. One comment for kbsonner and anyone else this would be useful for. If you are using Ultrase digestive enzymes, you can get a case of scandishakes a month for free through their comprehensive care program at Axcan Pharmacuticals. I end up going through 2-3 cases it seems a month and they have been very helpful. We shall see if we get more of the same.

My son takes 5 cans of peptemen with 2 cups of some weight gainer added over 10 hours at 120 a hour, about 2400 cals. Maybe if you were to slow down the rate so it runs longer would help. It could be just zippin through him so fast that it doesn't all get absorbed right. It's an idea. Kelly
