hand sanitizer question

there was a news article that said that children getting alcohol posioining was a problem with the hand sanitizer but yeah i would think that they would have to actually drink the stuff for it to be a problem.
They used to have alcohol based hand sanitizer in all of the classrooms at my school until some of the students put it together that alcohol is flamable, so they squirt it all over the desk and lit it on fire, now we have some other sort of hand sanitizer that won't burn lol

I'm with Tami. I teach kindergarten and I have 3 big bottles in my classroom. At the beginning of the year I teach my students how to cough or sneeze in their elbows, and I constantly remind them of this ( I figure I say it at least 3 or 4 times a still). Anytime a kiddo sneezes or coughs (whether in hands or in elbows) the kiddo who sneezes, along with the ones around them go and get sanitizer. We wipe our tables with disinfecting wipes daily as well. Do I go overboard...probably, but I really don't risk my DD catching something from me. Can you explain to the teacher how important this is? Like Heather said, can you donate a big bottle to the entire class?

Anyhow, I believe beyond the shadow of a doubt that Hand Sanitizer has kept our little Monkey healthy as a horse during his school years to this point.

He has fairly severe CF, evident in every way, except "sick days". I would say that he has probably had 5 or less sick days in Kindr, 1st and 2nd grades combined, and I am not exaggerating. It's been unreal! Illness' are passed via the hands, first and foremost, and Ryan's hands are kept clean.

NOW, here is the kicker....WE invest in the Purell and WE get the teachers to buy into the concept of keeping multiple bottles dispersed all around the classroom. Luckily, we have had teachers, to this point, who love our Monkey, so they are eager to comply. (they also like have ALL of their pupils in class every day!)

Bottom line.....YES! It has worked like a charm for our family and kept our Monkey very healthy.

I work in a hospital and use sanitiser all day long, it's fantastic.

Important note though: You have to use soap and water every 5th wash or so to get rid of the build-up, otherwise it doesn't work anymore. The infection control nurse told us that.
