Ricky's caring bridge page says that so far, the transplant is a success! He is out of surgery, as of about 7:50, here in Wisconsin.

I can't enter the guest book on his CB page from work, so, I'll say here,

"Congratulations and welcome to your new life, Ricky! You will continue to be in my prayers, along with the family of your generous donor. I pass by the hospital where you are twice a day, and you'll get a special prayer from me each time, while you're there. Although I didn't "know" you until yesterday, I am so excited for you, and the promises that your new lungs bring!"

Wow, this is wonderful news! I will be praying extra hard for him for his lungs to take and for a speedy recovery.

HI everyone. Just wanted to give you an update on Ricky. I got to see him today! His surgery lasted all night and finished around 7 this morning from what I understand. I saw him around 2 and he's doing great. He was opening his eyes and recognized me right away. Then he grabbed for my hand and was holding on tight! He is slowing being weaned from the vent, but no rush. The vent was at 40% FiO2 when I was there. I don't know much or anything for that matter about vents, but I think that's good. His biggest complaint was the ET tube in his mouth and how dry his mouth is. He denied having pain so that was good. I only stayed about 5 minutes because he was so sleepy.
