I rarely sign in just to read (only sign in to reply).
But I bet most of those "guests" are bots that are "web spidering" for google and such.

Sevenstars - I'M WITH YOU! I don't know if there is a legitimate and valid answer,
However,
I often wonder the very same thing!

It could be people we actually know those who are browsing, but don't want to sign in.

But, knowing how the internet works these days, you can only sit back and wonder. Every once in a while I'll get a stranger PMing me - someone I've never seen on the site before, they ask me where I'm seen at or offer me their phone number. I just ignore them and don't respond. But my concern is for the younger crowd who aren't so wise to these types of preditors. I can only hope their parents are monitoring their internet use. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

No internet site is "safe" unfortunately.
By the way - I'm not paranoid, just informed.
If I were paranoid I would say something like "maybe it's my dr's office watching when I bitch about them" <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
