Hi Jenn,

I am not sure which post your are talking about, but in general, I think the beauty of this website is that it is a place where people can be real with their feelings and emotions. I think Emily said once that sometimes, people, myself included, use this site to vent sometimes when they need to, many people on here are positive 99 percent of the time, but when they need to vent or share fears, they need to be able to without having to be discrete about it..

I am sorry that you are upset by the death post. My only advice is don't read it, for me, it was not pleasant reading, but sometimes it is so wonderful to be able to say what we feel inside of us, instead of just pretending like it isn't there.. I am not saying dwell on it, but at least be able to get it out.

I for one, really hope this website doesn't have to be a place where people need to be discrete about a topic that is bothering them. It would be really helpful if you gave specific posts that you are talking about.

I hope your stomach is feeling better,

Jennifer

I agree to a point with you, Jenn. I think first and foremost we should try to be positive with our responses.

Sometimes, though, you want someone to just cry with you, you know what I mean? Sometimes you just need to vent to people that really understand better than anyone else in the world.
I think the beauty of the site is that we can feel free to approach anny topic that we need to, even the difficult ones.

And sometimes, we all think about death, CF or not. You have to vent out your fears and worries to someone, you can't keep them in.
Death is part of life, and it's not pleasant, but it's nothing to shy away from talking about.

Maybe if there's something that is really upsetting to you, you should just not read it. I've come across a few threads that I just can't handle reading at the time, and I skip them.

As far as certain people making deliberate stupid, or thoughtless remarks, if you're referring more to that, well I totally agree. It's annoying. But I've only seen just a few of those.

I''m sure I'm one of the people you don't like. In fact, I can say that with nearly 90% accuracy. Here's the thing.

Death is a reality. Very much so. Trust me on this one. Avoiding it doesn't make it go away. Personally, I hate society's stigma on talking about death and being realistic about it. What do you mean 'be discreet about it'? Not dicuss it? Confidentially, there are some things on here that I wish I didn't have to see because they upset me. Do I say, "Oh, sorry, you can't talk about that because it bothers me" No, this is a site for everyone, not just those that think a certain way.

I am ever a praticalist, and have been through the wringer. But I have also helped people deal with all manner of things, whether it's preparing a living will, how we die, an entire PM conversation dedicated to mutations and bug cultures for your kid, talking to your kids about having CF, and loads of other things. So no, I'm not going to go away just because you don't like what I have to say sometimes. The gift of this site is truly it's vast range of opinions. It allows people to make up their own minds.

That's why I haven't bothered registering 'cuz all to many times someone just jumps down my throat, tells me I'm stupid. If I listened to every critical comment I've gotten of late I'd have my daughter eating low calorie healthy food, go off antibiotics because they're bad and cause resistance, play with toys at the CF clinic while sitting in a germy cesspool of a hot tub with a group lf people who have cepacia.

I dont agree with censorying this forum. The idea (my understanding) is to offer personal opinions, experiences & other info. Many things people dont want to know about or agree with. If that is the case then once you see what the posting is regarding...stay away from it. For those that want to hear more no matter what the topic then.....read it! Everyone is different & if someone takes everything that is said on here literally & not just want it should be taken as (advice, a different outlook or another experience) then yes....your daughter would be eating low calorie, healthy food while on no antibiotics while playing with the toys at the CF clinic that sits in a cesspool of a hottub surrounded by people with cepacia. As far as not having a username....I understand not wanting to have a name connected if/when you get jumped on anout something. IN the same sense tho....its doesnt seem quite right (in my opinion) that you state all of this anonymous. I am a pretty optamstic person. I dont dwell on death or my CF, but I also no longer act like they arent a part of life or that it should be avoided. If it comes up I address it & give my thoughts honestly. If another topic comes up I do the same. What is so hard about that and leaving it at just that. This is exactly why some Physicians dont want their patients reading on the internet or participating in forums.....like everything else in life you have the extremists I guess!

Anonymous, I can't decide if that's really bad or really clever. At least I know you're a reader lol.

I kind of agree with Jenn because lately I have seen a lot of negativity. We say that this is a place where we can be open with our feelings and that if you do not want to hear about certain things then don't read the post. But that didn't happen with the whole post about the other site where people said it was alright to cheat. Anyone could have chosen to read what the heading on that siten was and not read it but instead we brought it over to our board and just bashed everything about it. That is not allowing them to be open on their site and that is not us choosing what to read and not to read.
Also, I have seen a lot of people saying that their friends bother them and they have dropped friends because they "don't understand". People have even said they get upset it others want sympathy if they have something as little as an ear infection. How is that not negative? Someone with an ear infection or the flu is sick, and to them they are very sick. We should be sympathic to that and not compare how hurting to theirs.
I do understand that people get upset with what they read or that there really are friends who should be dropped but I feel lately it has been negative too, and not because of the death
