Exactly! And this is the reason why we as a group are being banned. Over 4 years I've paid in $3200 but claimed $8000!

Ohhh, gotcha. That makes a lot of sense. I know I paid about $2000 in premiums this year but they paid me about $5200 LOL

I wish I would have had this at the end of last year when I had my surgery, and my daughter had her ER visit for stitches! Darn!

I put in an email today and hope to hear back from someone this week about getting a policy.....

Jana,
Yay! So glad you got a policy! Our policy also does not have a limitation on how many times in a 30 day period that you can be admmitted! An example would be, a friend of mine's daughter has been admitted 3 times in the last 30 days....for the admissions alone, she would have made $2400.00!!! Not to mention the hospital time in, recovery time at home!
If you can afford it, get this policy now before Combined quits writing it for CF'ers!

I bought an Aflac policy for my daughter and I in September 2009. My rep said there was no way she would have qualified if we applied privately and our employers didn't offer Aflac at the time. He did however tell us that there was a local credit union that offered Aflac policies to its members through an employee payroll deduction. COPD was the only pulmonary issue that would have gotten us denied. There was no specific questions about CF.

Our policy pays out:

$1000 for initial admission
$100/day for confinement(days 1-14)
$200/day for confinement (days 15-180)
surgical benefits/physican visit benefits/diagnostic exam benefits

Our first claim for Abby's CF hospitalization was August 2010 and they paid us out $2500. (we had to wait 6 months to file a CF related claim). My monthly premium for the 2 of us is $73.20 - well worth it!!!

You may want to check this and see if it's still available through employers or Credit Unions like mine.

Julie,

I just wanted to thank you for this info. I got my policy today For me at age 29 for the Gold policy which is the same one you have the $800 per admission and $200 per day in the hospital and $100 a day at home it was $52 a month. UNREAL!!!!! Plus all the extras like er visits, surgery, fractures, even my yearly pap smear ($50)!! I am so blessed to have found this. Now the Silver policy was everything cut in half and was $21 a month. I went with the Gold. Also I did know know if you knew but they also have a Critical Care Policy. It covers organ transplants. How it works is that you have a set payout amount, $15,000, $25,000 or $50,000. You will get paid that amount when you have a transplant. There is a 2 year pre existing policy on this one. For me at age 30 ( after my next birthday ) it would be $481 a year for the $50,000. That could be a HUGE help to some families for paying the transplant expenses. Now I know with the two year pre existing it could be a little tricky on how long to wait to get it or what not but thats a huge amount. Julie do you know if the money that we get paid from these policys is counted in our taxes? Also say someone took out at $25,000 policy for the transplant policy, would that $25,000 be taxed?
