Great points Julie-thanks! I had my gallbladder out in December and really wished I would have had the plan then-darn it! We have $4000 in medical bills right now that these plans would have really helped with (for myself, my husband, and one of my kids).

I am planning on putting myself on the hospital gold plan, and getting accident plan for DH and the kids.

I think I'll just go ahead and do it. Our budget is tight too...but like you said-the more I think about it the more it would be worth it to have.

If I were to ever be hospitalized...I don't have paid leave at work so the daily pay would be something we would need.

Julie - Do you have any info specifically about WI? It was the "territory manager" that came to our house. He had a binder of diseases and looked up cystic fibrosis. It said uninsurable. That's when we talked about how our son is on Title 19 (Medicaid?) and we don't pay any premiums for him. He said that if you don't pay anything towards your health care plan you can't be covered. We discussed putting him on our insurance plan so that we would be paying premiums for him. At that time, he called the underwriter. The only thing that was said after that was that CF is uninsurable. It sounds a little fishy to me!

We will be meeting with him again in a month, so I can grill him more then. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I went ahead and signed up for the combined gold plan. $61 a month-but I feel better having it in place in case I do need to go to the hospital-I don't have short term disabillity for work and I work 2 jobs....being without my income would not be good! My check has already gone through the bank so I assume that is a good sign?? It went through about 1.5 weeks after I signed the form. Still waiting to recieve my info in the mail though.
