underwriting usually takes 30 days at the minimum. However, they should be able to tell you in a few days if you do or do not uqalify. For me they didn't take $$$$ OUT until after they finished the underwriting

They took my money out within a week or two, and I got a packet with all of the information for the policy. It makes it look like I'm all covered, but nobody has mentioned anything else about the underwriting. I kind of assumed it's done, but can't say for sure.

We had a rep come to our home a few days ago. Unfortunately, we did not qualify. First of all, the CFer can't get an individual policy (I think we all knew that), but, they can be a dependent. Second of all, in WI, if you are on Medicaid and don't pay anything for premiums, you are not able to be insured. They called it "double-dipping".

Here's the weird part:

We talked with the rep about putting our son on our insurance (through employer). That way we would be paying premiums and he would have a back-up insurance. Yes, this would be an additional cost to us to add him to our policy. The rep called the underwriter (who didn't want to be on speaker phone). We never really got an answer to this...just that CF is uninsurable.

As a funny side note...I am also considered uninsurable because I am over their weight limit. Ha ha! Next time I will have to fudge the numbers a little! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

That's strange, because I got the policy just for myself, and I have cf. The rep did tell me they wouldn't sell me life insurance--no big surprise there! She also said she could not sell the hospital policy to anyone on disability.
