I have 3 boys who do not have CF and I nursed the first two for about 3 months. Both of them were sickly. The oldest one was hospitalized twice for pnuemonia before he was 2 and was tested for CF. No CF but he does have asthma.

The second one also had respriatory issues and very small and sickly.

The third one I formula feed. He did ok but was hospitalized at 3 mos with repiratory problems. And has allergies.

The two boys I have custody of are Austin 6 with CF. He was a bottle fed baby. Kaydan who is 2 was also bottle fed and he has Asthma and respiratory problems.

So Figure that one out in your theory and let me know what you think LOL!

Asthma and allergies run big time in my family.</end quote></div>

Interesting. Yeah as someone else said earlier, way too many variables to try and extrapolate anything from. All that aside, now that I see some of you posting here that were both bottle and breast, do you guys have any fairly bad allergies? That might be the only thing I would be able to get any understanding on, though of course, wouldn't be anything set in stone.

well, i drank from the mammary fountains until my mom bailed, which was between 2 and 3.

i am now 29; fev1 bounces around from high 50s to low 70s. considering my exhaustive history of non-compliance and heavy drug abuse, i'd say that that's pretty effin good.

i know nothing of my mutations, though. what i can tell you is that i can safely hide behind a light post and my lungs are generally clear after a few hours of being awake.

i also know nothing of other cf'ers as i am the only in my world besides those i know here, and they can answer for themselves if they wish.

Faust,
Interesting topic. It would be interesting to have such data on a large number of cfers. Also, diet and weight in general. It has always seemed to me that cfers who can maintain a normal weight/BMI and eat a healthy diet do better.
