My CF doc was just sure I would deliver early, based on the other patients he has had. There were 5 or so other pregnant women at the same time as me ( none that I know personally) and I was told I made it the longest, right on my due date. My OB was only going to induce me if I went past 40 weeks, they said if I was still pregnant on my due date they would schedule induction for a week later.
Oh, we didn't find out the sex of our son until he was born, we may find out what we are having this time.

I was told at my first prenatal appointment that I "might" deliver early due to having CF. He said that having a chronic illness and fighting off infections can cause preterm labor. He said a lot of his CF patients had delivered early.

I was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks due to a pregnancy rash that was horrible! Although at my last appointment before induction, the doctor made a comment that I was getting induced 'due to the rash and CF'. He sort of made me fee like I better get the baby out now that it's full term before I end up having some sort of CF complication. I totally did not agree with that and did not have any CF complications my entire pregnancy and was not expecting to have any complications either. But the rash was making me miserable and so I opted for the induction.

I ended up going into natural labor after I was admitted for the induction so it all worked out perfectly and obviously the baby was ready at 39 weeks.

I absolutely agree that you should wait until your baby is ready unless there is some other reason that you need to be induced. If the baby is fine and your health is stable, there isn't any reason for induction. I totally believe that CFers have the ability to carry healthy, full-term babies without the risk of delivering pre-term unless there are (major) CF complications.

Hey guys----Everything is going just fine! The only concern was that having CF I may get an infection and being pregnant along with an infection may be dangerous to me and the baby. Plus they did say a lot of their past CF patients who were pregnant did not go the full 40 weeks. We are planning on going full term. I totally agree with everyone...I DO NOT want a baby in NICU. I want to be able to have her come home with me! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> So in the meantime, I'm doing everything I can possibly do to control airway clearance and prevent any kind of infection. I have had such a great pregnancy (CF wise) and hope it will continue this way. I didn't want to freak anyone out. I think I didn't explain it good enough. My bad! You guys are awesome though with the concerns! HUGS
