People with CF have barrell shaped chests because of poor posture induced by coughing (ever notice how your shoulders hunch when you cough?). </end quote></div>

That shape is due to air trapping in the lungs <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Unless I am actually "sick" I cough mostly in the morning or with activity & vest. Otherwise a few times a day at most.

I do clear my throat constantly & get stuff up. Especially with the problems with my vocal cord.

I was told coughing was bad too. It causes spasms in the lungs or something like that. My Dr wants me to do exercises that will get the stuff up without much coughing. But old habits die hard LOL.

Thanks for all the responses! I am glad to see I am not the only one that coughs so much <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I guess I cough a normal amount. A lot of people think I either A) SMOKE or B) have asthma. Strange (but good thing is) I rarely cough during exercise and I can run miles without ever becoming short of breath. I usually stop excercising either because I'm bored or running low of blood sugar!
