How Much Sleep Do You Need?

Pre Transplant I needed about 9-10 hrs of sleep. Of course I never got that between meds, homework, and being social. I found that I would doze off in High School during class...A LOT. Although I got through high school with a 3.8 I don't think that was the best thing to do! In college it was so much easier. I scheduled late classes and usually went to bed before midnight so sometimes I could squeeze in 11 hrs. Depending on what else I had going on. And always a two hour nap from 2-4 or 3-5 in the afternoon. Right before transplant alls I did was sleep. I really slept all day and was usually up for most of the night. It was weird because I would stay up until 3 am, sleep until noon, eat something, then go back to sleep for hours. I remember a nurse told me once that CF patient's circadian (is that the right word?) rythmns were off and were were usually up at night...I found that I was always hanging out with the nurses late at night in the Hospital. Does anyone else find that when they were admitted to the hospital they would be up at night?

8 hours - last year I was on a leave of absence and didn't set an alarm clock to see how long I would sleep and it was nearly 8 hours every night.
naps are rare, only if I am really sick.

I have always fround it difficult getting anything more than 4 hours of sleep. just before surgery I was getting 2 hours at a time. Having to get up for breathing treatments. Now, after surgery, I started out getting 2 to 3 hours sleep due to surgerical discomfort. But as time goes on by, I am getting more and more sleep at a time. I am now up to 4 to 5 hours of sleep, looking forward to getting 8 hours straight soon =)

I can't function on any less than 6 hours. I do pretty good on 8, but I like to get 10. I do feel tired a lot. I am thinking of going down to 30-ish hours a week because by the time I get home I have absolutely no motivation to cook dinner, clean, do laundry...anything!
