I hate to even ask this...

I just double-checked my registration online (with transplant BC) since we don't get anything on our driver's licenses. I've been meaning to check for years but kept forgetting. Apparently I've been a registered organ donor since 1999.

Is it mostly religious reasons people wouldn't donate? I've read about people who wouldn't donate their loved one's organs because they wanted an open casket. But even if donating organs made an open casket funeral impossible, wouldn't saving lives outweigh that?

I talked with my husband about it last night, and we are going over to a friends house tonight. I'm hoping to be able to bring it up there. Hoping. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I have talked a little bit about it with my parents; but never got a yes or no from them. I'm inspired by this topic to discuss this with them!

My Mom is currently in CCU of our local hospital. Although she is stable, things can go array any moment especially given her health history.

So yesterday when in her room, I brought it up as well as DNR, Life Support etc.

She has nothing in writing & I thought I knew her wishes from when my Dad passed, but I wanted to verify it.

She doesnt have her license signed, but we will get it to her to do so ASAP.
