good point mockingbird, yet i am not Christian. My beliefs do not contradict my harshness.

By your god I mean your god, not one that I believe in. I commend you for standing for what you believe in but even in your response you express an effort to reveal my inconsistencies as opposed to offering your love to me and being a shining example for me to learn from, which is what the christian faith preaches.

Sakem said "but 20 years from now when he is an adult and his health has deterioated" referring to your child. It seems to me that you already expect his health to be deteriorated at this point and your belief will be imposed on him. It will become his reality once the belief is set in. I would recommend seeing him as healthy 20 years from now because thoughts are things. We must focus on the possibility for perfect health no matter what life throws at us and strive for that regardless of the hardships. The child who is taught of the infinite possibility of life will lead a life of infinite possibility.

Thanks for the thoughts everybody!!

I really think it's a roll of the dice. Just like we who got the unlucky 1/4 cards the first time, once you're diagnosed w/ CF it's an unknown. Some of the unknowns we have answers for: will treatments, pills, therapies and excercise improve and prolong your life? Yes. But when I try to understand from some higher power why I survived to 28 with relatively no problems and my friend w/ CF was dead by 22 after a lung transplant rejection, I have no answers.

Those of us who DO survive to be older....are we lucky? Yes. Do we take care of ourselves? Most likely yes. But I will add that I slacked off on my CF until just a few months ago. Do I deserve to be here more than someone who worked their a$$ off to stay healthy and still didn't make it? Probably not.

This is the very kind of mentality that categorizes us into this box of sick people and creates an identity of sickness for us.

</end quote></div>

You know what else creates that mentality? Being sick. Yup.</end quote></div>

LOL, Em
Ain't it the truth.

Evan,

I have read everything on your website and agree with you and your brother 100%. I would of loved to have stumbled across your website when my children were first diagnosed with cf. I found it to be very inspiring and refreshing!!!!

One of my girls has not at all had it easy with cf. She has been in and out of the hospital since birth and never and I mean never seems to get a break. She just turned six yesterday. I would be extremely happy if as she grows older she views life and cf the way you do.

Thanks for sharing your website!!!
