Oh, Emiliee, I'm sorry that you're incarcerated for the time being. Last time I was was in 2003 at Johns Hopkins. I felt pretty good, too, and I nearly climbed the walls. My dx wasn't confirmed yet, although they knew it was PA, so I was in a shared room and kept getting bizarre roomies. I had one great one and we'd watch TV together and talk and laugh, but I had one that blared TV all day and night and the WORST was getting the roomie who was going through heroine withdrawals!!! She was raving and wild and scarey! I told them 3x's that first week that I was checking out and they eventually got me my own room, which helped a great bit!

I also was 2 hrs from home so hardly had any visitors. (My husband is a long distance truck driver so he wasn't even THAT close!) Since we've moved to North GA they've been letting me get my IV treatments at home so far. I can't leave the house for the duration but at least I'm not quite as bored.

I would go with something you're addicted to, because that always makes time seem to fly by. Computer games, whatever that might be for you. Of course I think half of the antsy-ness is from not getting to be very mobile so they only thing for that is walking the halls, etc.

Let us know how you are doing and how you are passing the time. Could you make a book for your daughter while you're in there? Or record some books on tape for her?

Sorry Emilee you're in there. No fun at all!!

I'm usually good for the 1st week too and then the 2nd one blows. Ideas to help pass the time? If you have your laptop and a bunch of pictures on it, maybe you could try making a personalized video of all your photos with the goal to post it to the cftube when you're done. I know making videos and putting stuff like that together is a super time consumer which can be excellent while you're in lock down. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Or is there anything you've been meaning to learn yet haven't the had the time? This might be a good time to start something like that, ie: knitting, new computer program (like I mentioned above), I don't know......

getting some solid mvoe watching in ahs helped me. i've also been known to bring my binoculars along and watch people in the courtyard from six floors up. a little flirt, flirt with the nurse staff never hurt, hurt, either. but i stay at a teaching hospital with a lot of staff of like age.

there's also a ton of art around the hospital, so i walk around and check it all out. we also have a meditaion room that is awesome for headphones and techno. do you get vouchers? the cafeterias at mealtimes are usually a break from the routine, too.

you could also count freckles, braid the iv tubes, and race weelchairs, too.

Hey at least you get to have a laptop! Where I go they aren't allowed becayse hospital regulations say everything you plug into the electricity supply must be tested by an electrician first. And there's only so long your battery will last, even if they let you take your laptop in - which they don't because they say its too high risk of being stolen. In some areas you can pay to use a bedside internet connection - but they are ridiculously expensive and not at all easy to use. I usually take in a stack of books and get friends to call in all the time - unless of course I'm feeling crappy when I'd rather they left me alone LOL. About the 3 year old who doesn't need anything.....I'm still wondering that myself. I have a 2 year old nephew who needs absolutely nothing! Hope you find something to do before you got mad. Jx
