Incontinence in CF women...

yup, me too - it's part of the reason I won't go to a gym - exercise=coughing=peed pants.

SOme bladder incontinence is hereditary, but this would show up more as you get older - not related to CF, or after having kids - think already weak muscles and sagging uterus on your bladder.

My mom had surgery for this last year, actually, which means between Cf and 2 kids and genetics I am probably doomed.

Interesting about the pilates Kris, I will try anything at this point! I do this all the time and it's so frustrating! Every time I go on a long run I have some coughing fits but keep running..this is bad because by the end of the run my underwear and my shorts are soaked. So to my next race I am planning to bring underwear and new pants to change into after because when I say soaked I mean soaked.

I've tried the Kegeling thing and didn't really notice anything too positive with that. The Poise pads are a plus for my everyday life haha, we should own stock in them.

Your CF physiotherapist (or respitartoy therapist- not sure of the correct title) should be able to tell you exactly what to do in terms of exercises which will cure the problem. Like someone up above said, SO many people suffer from this prob but are too embarrassed to tell anyone about it....

Yep count me in ....
It all started when i was first diagnosed with cepacia because i was coughing so much. Sometimes its worse than others. Usually when i am sicker and coughing more it gets worse. I wear a Poise panty liner almost everyday to avoid any accidents. I do the Kegel exercises when it gets bad, but stupid me i stop remembering to do them when it lightens up on me, till the next time i start having the problem. ugggg

see anonymous, nothing to worry over--were all with you!

I do have this, if I am jogging I wear a liner of some sort. I use bathroom frequently, I have learned to lean forward when I pee ot more effectively empty my bladder, and I do kegels to strengthen muscles back up.
