It's so easy for those who are healthy to come to a decision in regards to health insurance coverage.

My husband runs a small family business and we have to get private health insurance.

We just recently had to change companies because the one we had been with for 2 years pulled our monthly premiums up to $800.00 a month. This insurance is just for my husband and I, not the children, and it was $800.00 a month! My husband and I do not have any pre existing conditions and are in relatively good health.

Even "healthy" people are finding it hard to get quality health insurance coverage without breaking the bank.

I don't know what we are going to do when Courtney loses her military medical benefits when she is out of college. It scares me so much to think how much she will have to pay out of pocket for quality health care!

Sorry Kayleesgrandma, I have to vote with Robert on this one. Politics has no place on this site. It is extremely divisive and always creates problems when it is mentioned - it is rarely kept civil and informative. It undermines the whole new and improved lighthearted CF.com site.I think we are all adults (the majority of users anyhow) and we can all decide by ourselves who to vote for - that's probably why they made the voting age 18.

Sorry, but the political is the personal for some of us, and should be for all. Some of us don't have the luxury of ignoring decisions made in Washington. I will have to continue to work long past the point that I really should thanks to criminal "pre-existing condition" clauses that insurance companies get away with. And if I go bankrupt due to medical bills and ridiculously high premiums due to my "pre-existing condition," it will be all the harder for me, as the majority party at the time (who shall remain nameless but starts with an R ) refused to exempt medical bankruptcy from their tough new Consumer Bankrupcy Law. Without public discourse on forums such as these, it makes it all the easier for the powers-that-be to hide their actions.

So I completely disagree that this should only be a "light-hearted" website. Now I love nothing better than jovial banter, but to only show the positive side of things where everyone is happy and agreeable is to be deceptive at best, especially when dealing with a very non light-hearted topic such as cystic fibrosis.

Sorry Scottius, my comment about the lightheartedness was my poor attempt at sarcasm (I guess I'll have to work on that). I was referring to the changes to this site in the last few weeks that I am not a big fan of yet - lighter feel, less relevant subjects discussed, etc. But I still don't agree that politics plays a role here - discussions on Healthcare Yes, sound bites from Fox news, etc No. There are plenty of political websites out there where people can banter back and forth about who's candidate is better if that's their passion.
