Insurance Denial

I got a letter today telling me that they're taking away my vest. I can't believe it. The letter said that the documentation provided to my health insurance company doesn't warrant it. Specifically they won't let me have the InCourage Vest from Respirtech.

I'm going to fight this tooth and nail. They offered me a Hill-Rom Vest, which I used to have, but NEVER and I mean NEVER was able to cough anything out with it.

I got the InCourage Vest back in May, and it actually works for me. I was able to go 9 months without needing to be hospitalized. Clearly, that's a sign that the InCourage vest works. I REFUSE to use the Hill-Rom version.

Does anyone have any experience arguing in favor of one particular type of vest over the other? I'd be interested in hearing how you presented your case to the insurance company.

Get your doc to write a letter to the insurance company explaining why you need that particular model. That's my best advice. Good luck.
